“Great value hotel in Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2007

I had a wonderful stay here with my 8 year old son. We had a room facing the courtyard and these are well worth paying the small extra for as they are quiet and have their own bathroom. The staff are kind and helpful. The breakfast is a feast compared to usual Italian fare. The hotel is very well situated for the sites. The rooms are quite grand in scale and although not offering the opulence of more expensive places it was very decent with comfy beds.

“Good room, good price, good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2006

Pros: Got a decent size "triple" - king bed with pull out couch - with crib for family of 4. Plenty of room considering how tiny European hotels can be. Not too expensive. A hop away from the Pantheon. Close to some good resturaunts. I was able to walk everywhere I wanted to from the hotel (except for the Vatican) with 2 strollers. Friendly staff. Clean room every day. Private bathroom in this room (but not all rooms). Allowed us to keep our own food and baby bottles in the office fridge.

Cons: Difficult to reserve - sent multiple emails without response . Finally I had to call it in - they said they'd email me a conformation. Never got it (didn't matter). Towles are like tablecloths. Breakfast is slim pickins. Set wake up call for 6am and received one promptly at 5am.

Overall: Pros outweigh the cons. European small hotels can get creepy. This was nice, in a great location, and for a decent price.

Tip: When you come out the door onto the street - careful, you're one the street; no sidewalk - look up and to the left onto the ledge fo the building across the way. You'll see why they call the street "Via Del Gatto."

“Loved the Coronet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2006

The Coronet was a charming pensione. Our room was comfortable, very clean bathrooms and the staff was very friendly. The air-conditioner had to be drained off water every once in a while, but it was not a problem at all. The Coronet is in the midst of everything, you can pretty much walk to all the major attractions Rome has to offer. We went to the Pantheon at midnight and felt safe. I would definetely recommend the Coronet to the traveller who does not expect a "Sheraton" or "Hilton" like treatment. We were in Rome to explore the city and not spend time in our hotel. This Coronet was just perfect for us, in our budget, clean, comfortable and close to everything. The staff offered to look after our luggage on the day we checked out since we were leaving later that night. Will definetely stay there again.

“Not impressed.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2006

This is the last placed we stayed during our two week vacation in Italy and was our least favorite. Our room had dirty carpet that was cut in several places, and filthy walls and curtains. The street noise was also very bad. The shared bathrooms were not clean and the shower was the size of a coffin. We will not stay here again.

“the Coronet is charming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2006

We liked everything about the Coronet - it's in an ideal location and our large room looked over the quiet courtyard. There's a police station out front, so you always feel safe coming and going at all hours. The staff was especially helpful when we needed to call a friend whose mother could not understand my broken Italian. When we left, the front desk arranged for a towncar to take us to the airport - only 55 euro!

  • Liked — Located very close to the Pantheon
  • Disliked — The birds in the courtyard wake up very early
