“Rene was friendly, until I had to cancel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2007

I booked a room for 4 night several months ago. Due to a last minute family illness I had to cancel my trip to Rome entirely. I emailed Rene a week in advance to cancel, told him what happened, apologized, and said I would love to stay with him in the future. He did not email back a confirmation of the cancellation. When I requested one, he got snotty.

He said he was glad I wanted to stay with him in the future, but that he would be fully booked when I tried to make the reservation i.e. he would not accept a reservation from me.

I understand that he has a small operation, but my cancellation was well outside the 48 hours he said he required. There was no need for a rude.

Stayed September 2007

“Chaplin B&B Hostel Rome is Absolutely Fantastic! 100% TOP MARKS!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2007

I first stayed at Chaplin B & B Hostel in October 2006, and this is my fourth stay. It is by far the best accommodation I have had worldwide. I have stayed at many Hostels, B & Bs, and Pensions around the world, and Chaplin B & B receives top marks!

The manager, who speaks nine languages, goes out of his way to ensure his guests are comfortable and all reasonable requirements are met. The facilities are excellent, and the rooms offer all that the traveller may need. The breakfast is far superior to any I have experienced.

Chaplin B & B is in an excellent location as it is close to Roma Termini, and within walking distances of many of Rome's famous buildings, Churches and sites.

I return to Chaplin B & B in September, and know I will be sad to leave as this will be my last stay for the year. For me, it is like a home away from home.

  • Liked — The accommodation is excellent, the atmosphere is fantastic and its location as it is within walking distance of most of the famous sites, and churches-
  • Disliked — There is nothing I disliked!

“A Big No No!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2007

I stayed at chaplin for 1 day in JUNE,2007..The stay was just not great at all!
All the room has is one bed, chair, table and a almira..
Froget about AC,cooler or anything, there's not even a fan here!..
Just One big window..
The bathrooms cramped...
Stay here only if you have no other place to stay in Rome!Or staying near to termini is of utmost importance to you!

“A Fan Of the Chaplin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2007

My husband and I stayed at the Chaplin for 5 nights in July. Our room was comfortable, spacious, clean and quiet, considering we were staying in the heart of Rome! The breakfast that is included in your costs (cereal, cheese, rolls, juice and coffee)was ample and we chould choose to eat in our rooms on a tray or in the dining room. Rene , who runs Chaplin House is its greatest asset! Drawing on a wealth of personal experience he truly understand the needs of travelers. He is knowledgeable, accessible and ready to ensure you have all the information you need to make your Roman holiday a complete success. If what you want is simplicity, affordability, location and charm, then look no further than Chaplin House.

“Best choice in Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 April 2007

My girl-friend and I stayed at the Chaplin B&B for one week in march. It's a great place to be if you're looking for a comfortable, clean and well-priced B&B. It also offers a good breakfast (don't forget however to also try the original cappuccino in one of Rome's pittoresque cafés). The location is perfect - just 3 minutes from Termini Station, but sufficiently afar from the shady places that surround any great city central station. Most importantly, the owner is very friendly and helpful and can give you recommendations about things to discover in Rome in several European languages. We very much enjoyed our stay there and would choose the same place again.
