I stayed at Chaplin B&B from July 10 2011 to July 17 2011. This was pretty much the hottest week of the summer in Rome, so I was worried about staying at a hostel with no A/C. It really wasn't too bad though. Make sure you keep the shutters closed during the day and your room will not get too hot.
I stayed in the single room. There was a lock on the door (there are locks on all the doors). The bed was not the most comfortable thing in the world but it was adequate. The room was cleaned immaculately every day I was there. Rene (the host) wasn't around much but he was extremely friendly when I did see him. Breakfast is cold cereal, jam & toast, and coffee/tea, so don't be expecting eggs, bacon & sausage when you wake up!
Overall it was a great deal for 40 euros/night during the high tourist season. Also there is now WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS available at the hostel. Rene installed it the second day I was there.
