I stayed at this hotel with my partner before and after our South Italy Tour. We stayed 2 nights in August and another 3 this September. The first time we checked in, I'm quite disappointed with the room. Yes its clean, but kind of old and too dark for my taste, and I'm with a partner and they gave us a room with 2 single beds, and the bed is really small, if you're on the "bigger" body size, i dont think you will fit in it. :( The next time we went back (sept), they put us on the upper floor and suprising coz the room is light and so much better than the first room we stayed at with a comfy Queen size bed.

The breakfast is just on the average nothing spectacular, but the location is the best. Just 5 minutes to the nearest train station, around 10 to 15 minutes walk to Termini. A lot of shops and restaurants nearby. All in all, its a good hotel to stay at. I can't vouched for the price though coz we booked our italy package thru a travel agent and we paid a lot for the hotel and I weren't able to ask how much is their regular rate, but for the price that we paid, it's a little expensive for me but will still recommend it.

By the way, Wifi is available for Eu10 for the duration of your stay. But suprisingly everytime we check out they don't charge us for it.. :)

PROS:
1) Good location: – close to Termini and other transportation, but not too close to have crowd of passengers; – many restaurants in neighborhood with a good quality/price ratio; – not far (but no close) to many historical attractions; – not far from via Nazionale with good shops
2) Very good breakfast with a great (for 3 star hotel) choice
3) New renovated rooms with a comfortable and clean bathroom (not large but comfortable), with good quality towels exchanged daily
4) Friendly service
5) Good quality/price ratio (for 3 star hotel in Rome)
CONS:
1) Lack of soundproof windows, street noise can be a problem in a night: noisy drunk quests of a nearby bar and noisy motor bikes
2) Breakfast room a (little bit) too small for a number of hotel quests
3) Dirty staircase

My partner and I stayed at the Hotel San Marco before and after our escorted tour with Appian Tours (whole other story) and the hotel was surprisingly very close to the Termini Station. The front desk staff was very helpful in all question that were asked and the speak pretty good english. The rooms were average at best but they were clean. I wasnt use to the multiple toilet bowls in the bathroom until my partner explained what the other one was for. The breakfast buffet was ok for the most part though not spectacular. Overall it was not a bad experience.

The Hotel San Marco was picked out by our travel agent, I wish she chose a different place. The location was the worst part, we were on foot most of the time in Rome, except the odd tour bus or metro train, so this place being out of the touristy spots was a bit of a hassle, the breakfast was very nice tho, quite large selection!! The room was big, bathroom well appointed, we had no issues with that. The concierge were nice, one of the ladies recommended a restuarant for us and it was very nice, we got discount too because of her recommendation. The price was right, so if location isnt an issue for you this is the place for you, if you're after something central to all the tourist spots, this is not the place for you. We are youn fit and healthy, but it was towards the end of of 3 week honeymoon so I guess we were a bit worn out by this stage.
