“A perfect trip!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2009

This hotel is the perfect choice for those who wanna enjoy their staying in Rome for quite an appropriate sum of money! Ideal location of the hotel in the center of the city, pleasant and very polite receptionist, who speaks 3 ore more languages and always ready to give a helping hand, small but very comfortable rooms! So if you want to enjoy Rome and save your money Caput Mundi Hotel is the perfect choice!

“Terrible Hotel - just don't go there”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2009

Day 1 We arrived to find that we couldn't have the en-suite room we booked online because the previous occupant wanted to stay longer. We were offered one on the fifth floor with a shared bathroom, just for two days. It was 8pm so we accepted. The room had no bedside lights, no mirror and a TV that did not work.
Day 2 Hardly any hot water in the shower. We found that "breakfast included" meant that we had to go to a cafe around the block. It had no chairs and no croissants, The only thing to eat was lemon cake. Back at the hotel we found the door of our room was very difficult to lock each time we went out and when we finally managed it part of the doorframe fell off, bringing some chunks of plaster with it. I complained.
Day 3 Even less hot water in the shower. We had to pack up our cases and move downstairs to the en-suite we originally reserved. In the evening there was no hot water at all, and no towels in the room either. I complained more assertively. I heard reception shouting on the phone to a plumber. Also a lot of other people shouting, clumping, ringing the doorbell 17 times etc throughout the night.
Day 4 The manager seemed really surprised when we said we were leaving!

“Actually it was very nice!”

Before booking the hotel
I had read all comments on this web site,
I must tell the truth I was afraid to book there.
But I had no choice, as I needed a hotel in the centre
and I didn't have much money.
When I arrived in the hotel,
a very friendly lady met me at the reception.
She speaks a very good english,
and I had no difficulty at checking-in.
She let me choose the room I liked more
as they had more rooms free.
When I saw the room, it was very nice
(I mean for the money that I paid).
They offered me breakfast in the morning.
I went to a cinese bar and had a very good cup of coffee
and a bun.
I stayed there for three days, and I enjoyed my stay.
The cleaner was also very nice.
I spoke a lot with these two ladies.
They helped me with everything I needed.
So certainly I advise going there.

“only if u wanna add a distaste to your lovely roman vaccations”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2009

in short, it should not be rated as a hotel...rude staff, beds seem to be of 1800s also keeping u up all the night...breakfast with a croissant and a cold coffee makes it a pleasant morning and u never wanna return to your hotel...

“Pleasantly Surprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2009

After reading several uncomplimentary reviews on this hotel, I was hesitant to make reservations, but decided to go ahead. I followed up my hostel site reservation which included a deposit with an e-mail directly to the hotel. They responded with my reservation confirmation and answered all my questions. Upon arrival, the receptionist was able to show us two possible rooms. A couple of friends had decided to tag along to see if they could also get a room and were successful. The daytime receptionist was courteous, helpful and spoke fluent English. The antique elevator was able to transport our luggage and us to the fifth floor. We did have to navigate several interesting locks to reach our room, but the security made us feel safer. The room was adequate and was ensuite. It did overlook the street and Termini, but we had no problem with noise which was a concern. Our friend's room had air conditioning, but our room could only have a window opened for cooling. We chose this room on purpose. The location was fabulous being right across the street from Termini and all the links to buses, trains and subways. Termini also had a wide variety of eateries, shops and tourist info. A Continental Breakfast was included and was served at a restaurant across the street in Termini. One note would be to not arrive in the evening because the gentleman who manned the desk then does not appear to speak English. They also held our luggage for most of a day after we checked out before we boarded a train. We were allowed to use the office internet for short periods of time for free to check for important e-mails which was a nice surprise.
