“Perfect B&B for discovering Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2010

We spent 2 nights at B&B surprising in Rome and were pleasantly surprised! A very warm welcome by Giuseppe and he was very informative about the city and it's sites. The location is perfect for discovering the historic center and thanks to his tips and tricks we were able to discover all of the major sites and more.

The building breathes the 19th century spirit, but has the comfort of the 21st century. Things like the elevator, a/c, safety box, wifi, computer, tv and kitchen make the stay very enjoyable, we really felt at home there.

Downsides, if you want to call them that, are the streatnoise at night (we slept great with the provided earplugs!) and the bathroom where the water takes a bit of time to warm up.
If you can't handle that, stay in a luxureus hotel and pay 4 times as much.

“Wonderfull bed and breakfast in Rome with a perfect location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2010

We stayed here for 3 nights and was really happy to stay at Surprising in Rome. The room was big and nice with all the things you could like as TV, safety box, table, desk, drawers and a nice bed.

The kitchen area where you could take some breakfast at the morning was nice and cozy.

We got a nice and big bathroom at the hall with a bathtub. It was really nice and spotless. High quality! Another room has a smaller bathroom but their room was a bit larger instead but still a high quality bathroom. You get a private bathroom so it does not matter it is in the hallway. And there is only 3 guestrooms in the bed and breakfast, so not much people walking around.

The owner was very friendly and was there to say welcome to us and give us good hints, maps and restaurant tips of Rome. The restaurants he recommended was really good and with very fair prices compared to other restaurants and food of high quality. People says Rome is expensive for me, that lives in Denmark I did not think it was expensive. Good food, fair prices!

The travestere area is a really nice area with alot of nice restaurants! Definately recommendable and also the small streats around Piazza Navonna!

Go to the Antique Taverna near Piazza Navonna he will mark it for you. Excellent food and wine and really fair prices!

The owner arranged driving for us to and from the airport, at they day we left for home he self drived us for a fair price and comfortable.

We would definately recommend this bed and breakfast! It is as good as everyone says it is! We had no trouble with an unfriendly cleaning lady as the previous visitor said. She cleaned from around 10.30 to 12.00, so we did not see her. And she cleaned really well!

Yes there is alot of traffic and traffic noise but we live in Copenhagen normally so it did not bother us at all. Did not even use the ear plugs he provide for free.

“Highly recommended to travelers who want a more welcoming and friendly place to stay than a normal hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2010

I've been to Rome with a friend for a week.
I had almost never stayed in a B&B and this stay will certainly make me consider this type of accommodation in the future.

The owner does really everything in his hands so that you have a very good stay.

The location is perfect, as you can go around almost everywhere by walk (if you're not too tired) and is well served by bus lines as well.
The apartment is in a beautiful 19th century apartment building. The decoration successfully mixes modern and ancient items. It has 3 rooms (only one with en suite bathroom - for the other two, the bathroom is in the corridor - but this is not really an issue) and a kitchen.

Breakfast is self-service. You have a good choice of fresh and packed goods. You can make fresh coffee, eggs and you have namely ham, cheese and oranges at your disposal, besides good bread.

The cleaning lady is not friendly at all (even impolite), specially if you don't leave the apartment when/ before she arrives, so that she can be at her ease to do her work. It's true that we never managed to leave the apartment early enough... :-(
There is much noise coming from the street - but ear plugs are provided.

Well, our stay has been very pleasant and we can certainly highly recommend this B&B to travelers who want a more welcoming and friendly place to stay than a normal hotel.

“Good location, friendly host, but not so comfy”

My friend and I spent 4 nights there in May 2010. The location was central enough. Easy to get to from Termini on Bus 64. Giuseppe was friendly and eager to help. My friend didn't seem to mind that much but I hated our bathroom. It was a small makeshift one. It smelled bad, let me just put it that way. The shower had a very weak water pressure, which contributed to the worst hair days ever. We had self-service open kitchen. The bread was stale and the coffee was instant. There were espresso mocha pots but I wish I had a simple coffee machine or even filter for caffe americano! The room gets very noisy at night with constant siren, traffic, and yelling/ruckus. I guess it's what you get for 109 euro in Rome.
