“Pretty good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2009

I just spent 3 nights there and it was pretty good as a clean and pretty comfortable place to sleep. I had been added late to a group and their hotel was full so I was placed here by the travel agent. I got a quiet double towards the backyard and ws quite pleased with it. A bit on the small side, just like the shower, but everything was very clean and the bathroom seemed almost brand new. Friendly service at the little "reception" and at the bar on the corner where you have you breakfast. But one small pastry and a cappuchino is on the small side for someone used to a bit more than what the Italians eat for breakfast. The last day, Sunday, I had to either walk further down to the end of the block to get breakfast since the bar was no open when I had to leave shortly after 8 am, or skip the meal. Free internet worked on an off. Small fridge in the room with beverages at fair prices.

“Horrible service - not worth the trouble”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2009

My parents and I stayed in a triple for 5 consecutive days at this hotel. We also paid for a sixth day, as we travelled outside of Rome, and then came back at the end of the week, because our flight left from Rome. When we came back, our room was NOT available. They took across the street to another hotel, because they had overbooked like five rooms. This in a hotel with EIGHT rooms. NOT ACCEPTABLE.

The "hotel" is a hallway on the first floor of a residential building. The "reception area" is a computer and chair at the end of the hallway. Unfortunately, our room was next to the "reception area" so whenever people checked out at 6am, we would be woken up by all the talking. You can also hear all the doors opening and closing all night long. Hard to get a decent night's sleep.

We were there in the middle of summer, and they would refuse to turn on the AC. They would say that they (meaning the one lady who worked there that could only speak Italian) turn it on everyday at 5pm. But when we would come back in the evening at 7pm, no AC was on, and there was no staff to be found. That's right, the staff (lady who can't speak any language but Italian) would LEAVE the hotel. So if you got locked out or had an emergency at night, you are out of luck at Residenza Belli, because there are no phones in the room and absolutely zero staff to be found until the cleaning guy comes in the morning.

I would never stay here again nor recommend it to anybody else. The overbooking and the lack of service and amenities just makes the stay horrible.

“Clean & cheap - perfect for city breakers!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 April 2009

The girls and me wanted a weekend in Rome to explore the sites and have fun but wanted somewhere cheap to stay (but also nice). Residenza Belli was cheap, clean and the staff are very friendly - perfect. A low point is that the sign for this place is really small, so when you have reached the point of giving up trying to find it, head into the bar next door! They will have your key if its late in the evening! High points, you are right in the heart with the locals, and as long as you dont mind walking and getting into the thick of it with the locals this is where to stay. Stay around the back streets for great local places to eat which is also cheap - The local wine is sold by the litre and is defo worth a try! Planning on going back again!

“Cheap and Cheerful”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 April 2009

This is a good inexpensive base for anyone wanting to explore Rome. The area has a great selection of restaurants and bars (try and stay off the main street for a cheaper meal) and is within a half hour walk of The Vatican and the Roman remains. The bar next door which serves the breakfast included in the price is relaxed and friendly. We didn't eat there in the evenings but the food looked great and it's a nice place to go for a pre or post dinner drink. If you arrive after about 6pm you will need to pick your keys up from here.
The only low points were that fact that you can hear a lot of the noise in the corridor as the walls are quite thin and the shower which was a bit hit and miss. Mostly hot but would go cold half way through and then heat up again.
It's very basic but it's clean and friendly. Perfectly acceptable for anyone who wants to see Rome and needs a place to rest their head.

“nice place to stay”

Dear travellers,
When you go to Rome and want to stay in the city centre go to Residenza Belli!
Trastevere is the place to be at night, nice bars, restaurants, small shops and nice (Italien) people.
The prices in Trastevere are better than near all the touristic spots.
From Residenza Belli is most of the city is to see by walking or use the public transport the busstop is at the corner of the street.
The staff in Residenza Belli is very kind.
Don't expect a lot of luxery like the Marriot, what you can expect is a nice, small, clean and personal hotel with a nice bar next door where you can get your breakfast (criossant and that lovely italien cappucino)
We have realy enjoyd our stay!
Sandra & family

  • Liked — the comfort bed
  • Disliked — it can get noisy but i knew that and took my earplugs with me, no problem!
