When we arrived there was a cleaner just finishing off the last bedroom (eight).There is no lobby or check in area, just a short corridor with four rooms on each side. The room was dark and dingy even with the light on and when the curtains were drawn back it was clear why. The room was not "run down" more "run over" and the bathroom was disgustingly dirty with the toilet seat on the floor and the toilet heavily soiled! I would not have left my dog in this place! There was nobody to be found to complain to so we just left. I can only assume that the place had regular clients who only needed a room for an hour at a time!

We checked in but soon left, The room was run down and not very clean. The toilet seat was broken and fell off when touched. We spent the next hour online in the cafe next door trying to find another hotel, which is not what you want to be doing after an early start to your holiday. This is not an Inn or Hotel just a corridor of rooms with no reception desk and nobody about. We have been charged for two rooms for the first night as could not tell anyone of our disappointment.

We wanted to be in Trastavere, and the location of Belli is good for this as everything was within walking distance or bus to places like the coliseum (too hot to walk!). Rome is expensive for accommodation, so Belli was, while not cheap, a viable option for us as we knew we just needed a place to lay our heads each night after a couple of days of sightseeing. The room was small and the bathroom small, but it was impeccably clean and tidy, and had a small fridge which was good for the heat of Rome. We took earplugs which I would recommend for a good night's sleep, particularly if you need the window open as there's a barking dog in the building (it's part of an apartment building). We found the staff genial and accommodating. It's not the Ritz, but it doesn't come with that price tag either.

I warn everybody that Residenza Belli is a place where you can find yourself on the street before your holiday ends. I was asked to move to another place with an excuse that bathroom urgently needs to be repaired. When I came to pick my staf and be transfered to a place outside the centre near the highway I Found out that they are just moving another person into my room. It took another two hours of persuasion before they agreed to find, book and pay another place in Trastevere for me. I strongly not recomend to use this hotel. Besides that all their rooms look to a dark and ugly courtyard, they are expensive, impolite and crooked.
