“Okay with problems.”

I stayed 2 nights and found the location adequate - close to the train station, metro and walkable to some sites. Unfortunately I didn't have a phone to contact the owner although someone near the door did it for me. The rooms were very adequate with shared bathrooms. Breakfast was across the street at the Piccalo Bar and included a sweet and a coffee. The price was right for what I wanted - a place to sleep and a convenient location. The neighbourhood left a bit to be desired - I choose not to go out late at night. Probably wouldn't stay there again unless the other options were worse. The owner spoke enough English for me to understand - my problem for not knowing Italian!

“Value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2010

The B&B is a little hard to find as the name is handwritten on the small door tag beside the button. The hotel was forced to close down for a week and we were only informed when we have arrived at the place. However, the owner kindly waited for us at his B&B even though we only reached at night. He arranged for a stay in another B&B for 1 night before we shifted back to Viviroma. It is very clean and comfortable. The location is perfect for us. It is only 1 station away from Rome Termini via Metro and about 5-10minutes walk from Rome Termini as well if you prefer not to take Metro. The closest Metro station is right in the middle so you can reach any tourist spot within 20 minutes. However, breakfast is a little disappointing. We had to travel to a nearby eating spot for just 1 slice of butter cake and a drink. Anything more is on our own expense. If you are looking for value for money, the place is for you.

“Don't stay here!”

Anyone interested in booking this place, should think twice before doing so. The young owner who runs this small establishment doesn't seem to know what he is doing. He rents three rooms out of his apartment, with two shared bathrooms. We made reservations over a month in advance and received a confirmation back directly from the B&B. We were only staying one night and we arrived a little earlier than planned, so the room was not ready yet, which was fine. The owner told us we could leave our bags in the room and we settled the bill. When we returned at 10:00 pm that night, our luggage was sitting in the hallway and the owner said there was a problem with the room. He had apparently double booked the room and cancelled our reservation three and half weeks after it had been confirmed. Since we had been travelling for a month, we never received the cancellation e-mail.

We asked him why he didn't tell us this when we first checked in at 2:00 that afternoon. He claimed it's because he didn't know, but there are only three rooms to manage!!! The room he lived in with his friend in the same apartment was in complete disarray. Since the owner did not speak any English, his friend had to translate for him. We promptly got our money back, but it was after 10:00 pm now and Rome being what it is, everything was completely booked. We ended up having to pay way too much to stay in a very shady and disgusting pensione. The ViviRoma owners did not even help us find somewhere else to stay.

The price and location may seem right at this place, but I would think twice about staying in this disorganized, student apartment. If you book here, the same thing that happened to me, could happen to you.
