First, I was a bit overwhelmed by Rome in general, so that may color these comments, but this was a decent place off the beaten path. My husband and I had a difficult time finding the place (late at night, walking from Termini station, got lost a couple of times, but managed to get some help from the locals). Domenico was a really great host, though, and made sure he was there to meet us (we emailed ahead to let him know when we would arrive). He gave us a lot of information, very detailed maps, etc, which were as helpful as can be in Rome (again, very overwhelmed by Rome- I pride myself on map skills and just had to throw it out the window at some point). The bed and breakfast is tiny, in a large building with a number of other similar establishments. There was a lot of strange construction going on inside the building, but nothing that bothered us. The room was comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was a decent size, but the shower was scary- you had to walk three curved steps up into it without anything to hold onto except the shower-door glass (no handle) which swung out into your path anyway. I was worried the whole time that I was going to slip (I'm in my 30s- don't normally worry about falling and breaking a hip....).
Highlight was breakfast- the woman in the tiny kitchen laid out croissants and yogurt and made us coffee as soon as we sat down for breakfast. It was HOT in that kitchen, as in the rest of the bed and breakfast, but delicious.
This place is definitely out of the way. Not even remotely close to most of the attractions you want to see. Had to walk back to Termini to catch the metro or attempt to get on the bus (sometimes closed down earlier than we expected). There was a nice little grocery store around the corner that we used each day and I did like feeling like I was part of the neighborhood (enjoyed watching two old men argue at the end of the block!), but probably wouldn't stay here next time even though the price was right.
