“Okay for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

We booked this place mainly because of the budget rate. Firstly, it is very close to Vatican but far from other attractions especially those on the other side of Tiber River. However, there are bus stand and train station within a few minutes walk from the B&B. The B&B is located away from main road so it is actually quite quiet and peaceful.

Generally, the provisions of the B&B commensurate with the price. We stayed in the "Green" room. It is spacious, no balcony but Vatican dome is visible from the room window. The B&B has free wifi. The shared bathroom is okay. However, the breakfast was not enticing and the cleanliness of the room and bathroom need to be improved.

We arrived at the B&B early just to leave our luggage. We are thankful for that arrangement. We had some problems contacting the B&B staff at the main gate but we've got them after all. We were greeted by a very friendly tall and skinny guy (cannot recall his name). We actually booked Colessum room which has a balcony but we were informed on that day that the room was over-booked. We were given Forum room instead. However, due to some admin errors again, we have to move to "Green" room which is at the opposite block of the building. It was so confusing!

In short, this B&B is okay if you are looking for a place to shower and sleep. More than that, I guess you should look at other alternatives.

“Good value for money, near Vatican”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

We stayed here in June 2011 and were satisfied with room and our host. i think his name is Corado. Very pleasant, spoked english and we get breakfast at ordered time.

Room we reserved didnt have church view, but we didnt pay either for such kind of room. We didnt find directly when we came. I dont remember that i ve seen any sign from the street so it taked some time before we found some person and get our room. But this is typical for Southern Europe.

Very nice room, nice location easy to reach center and airport.

“Shabby”

Avoid this B&B. Room was shabby, bed most uncomfortable and the breakfast consisted of packed pastries from the supermarket and toasts. No tea is available. The bathroom which serves also as a laundry room has a mixture of fittings and nothing which resembles real soap is provided. True it is extremely close to the Vatican and St Peters all the more reason to provide accommodation which is clean, comfortable and well maintained.

Room Tip: Find alternative accommodation

Thank You for you review.
May I point out that this guest really requested a hotel set upon arrival, composed by slippers, toothbrush, bathing gown, and shaving tools. He wanted a wake up call and asked for a cooked breakfast at his own desired time. Incredibly, he also stated that the trip to the airport was included in the room rate !
The decoration of our B&B was not up to standard and we are profoundly sorry. We will certainly update the listing of our B&B as "shabby". This guest paid an incredible rate of EURO 50 per night in peak season in October. Finally, we may advise our guest to book the Hotel Excelsior for that rate next time. He will certainly find the proper "soap" and no laundry in his bathroom !

“Adequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

We stayed- I think in the Tiber Room- (it was next door to the Colosseum Room) which listed there was a balcony upon which to eat breakfast. This is a little misleading - as the balcony was for the Colosseum Room and we had a door to their balcony...which i could only see as totally awkward- to sit at their table in front of their room. It was not like the balcony was also in front of our room - we would definitly be in "their space".

The room and bathroom were adequate. The breakfast was nice - fresh pastry, milk and cereal and juice.

We were very safe - as there were alot of keys and gates to pass through if you got back after dark.

There was a room safe. Easy accessibitly to train station and bus #64 which runs a main route. About a 10 min walk to Vatican City.

The view from our room was mostly of the train station and the hills beyond that. If you stuck your head out of the window and looked left you could see the Vatican. Not sure where the picutre on the site was taken from, but not our room.

The stay here was fine. Really the only disappointment was we thought we had a balcony and we did not. Be sure to ask for the Colosseum room or perhaps there are others with a balcony if that is what you are wanting.

Room Tip: Colessum room has a balcony

“Awful”

It's truly awful, Everything was not as described. Balcony does not have any Basilica's view as promised. AC on the wall does not work, the blanket is old and wornout.
Soap is terrible that I used my own. Dirty, they don't clean the bath room everyday, they just put it to look as if it was cleaned. Terrible and worst nightmare experience. No table in the room.
