“beautiful place, bad staff, not clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2012 NEW

we stayed there for 3 nights during our italy trip, we were the only honeymoon couple in the tour, so our room is said to be the best room in hotel, I really wonder the other rooms.
it was located in the vatican area but not so close to the city center, rather it's close to metro station , and it's located in a very lovely town, its garden is very of the green. surrounded by the flowers and variety of beautiful trees.
place was spiritiual and mystic and it felt like we were staying in a mideaval church orphanage.
breakfast was bad for turkish people, because it's a big issue for us turks, egg was bad, no tomatoes or any other greens, only the yogurt was ok,
but the staff was rude.

“Honest Review”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2012 NEW

RECEPTION - We booked this hotel for a 2 nite stay B&B. Price was reasonable. On arrival reception were curt and unfriendly, however we did get access to our room at noon, 2 hrs earlier than usual.
ROOM - The room was small, but had clean comfortable beds, powerful shower and fresh towels, no airconditioning though, which would be a must in summer. The tv was a very old portable with no english stations, which we did have a giggle at, not the end of the world. Our door had chip marks where it appeared someone had previously tried to access the room without a key, which left us feeling rather uneasy. The locks on the door leave a lot to be desired and infact on the saturday evening we couldnt actually unlock the door and had to request help from reception, after 2 maintenance men and 35 minutes later we eventually got to go to bed. However if I got this room in the centre of Rome, it would have been an ideal base.
CLEANLINESS - All areas of hotel were clean. Our shower could have been a bit cleaner.
BREAKFAST - The breakfast was basic continental which was fine, there was an attempt at sausage, bacon and eggs which was revolting. The biggest problem was there were no staff. On the saturday morning we arrived for breakfast at 7.15am and we had to walk around a very large dining room to find a table which had not been used. There were no staff clearing or resetting tables.
LOCATION - This hotel is a good 45 minute walk to the Vatican, which once we found our bearings, we did walk into Rome centre each morning, enjoyed the walk and took a taxi from the Vatican back costing approx 15 euro. Most definately not central!
ATTITUDE - The staff in this hotel really let it down, my partner purchased 2 coffees and a kitkat and offerred a 50euro note. He received 25euro change. We debated how expensive the hotel appreared. After thinking about this during the night, I asked the coffee bar assitance how much an americano coffee cost. 2euro he replied. I approached reception, explained, received a shrug and it wasnt until I told her that my experience would be included in my trip advisor review that she attempted to help me. After great debate we received a refund of 20euro. This wasnt a mistake, this was a member of staff stealing from customers.
OVERALL - I would rate this hotel as poor. The hotel itself was fine, but its staff let it down badly.

“DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 May 2012

It is not near the Vatican at all. I booked this as a Mystery hotel near Vatican (40% off through Expedia) only when I got home to find that I had paid full price anyway.

I could not find the Hotel on my map in my lonely planet guide, or on the map I received with my Roma pass. I then purchased a map of Rome and still could not find it. Why?? BECAUSE IT IS IN THE FAR AWAY SUBURBS. Metro to 2nd last stop then a bus. This took us 1hour and 20 minutes.
The reception staff told us the bus to get to the metro came every 15 minutes. Two times we waited half an hour for the bus.

This place was not a hotel at all. It is called Rome Congress and Expo Centre. The rooms are not even part of the main building. The main building is just reception, bar/restaurant and conference rooms. The rooms were a short walk away from this building, in separate 4 blocks of what looked like commission flats. There were no other tourists here, only people on conferences. You get breakfast included which if OK, but you can’t get dinner. Dinner is only for people on the conference.

The room I was given was disgusting, upon seeing the room I immediately went to the reception and complained about the quality of the room and asked if we could get our money back and leave. I was told that because I booked through Expedia I could not get a refund. They did give us a different room, but unfortunately this was still substandard.

Our updated room had cracked tiles on the floor sticking up so the bathroom door would barely open. The so called bed was some sort of fold up camp stretcher with a 60mm piece of foam for a mattress. There were not even bed side tables. The walls were dirty and chipped. The carpet in the hallways was disgusting with stains all over it. The hand basin was cracked and leaked. There was constantly water in the bathroom floor where the pipe to the basin leaked. The bathroom was so small that the only way I could sit on the toilet was at a forty five degree angle with the shower doors open. The shower did not drain properly and the water just stayed in the bottom while showering. I have stayed in one star pensions that have been superior quality to this place.

One night during our stay we had been our all day and arrived back to the room at 10.00pm (after having stood at the bus stop near the metro for 30 minutes waiting for the bus that comes every 15 minutes) only to get to the room and find that there had been no housekeeping. Dirty towels on the floor and bed not made. I phoned reception and told them and they said they would send us some clean towels. 15 minutes later I walked to the reception room and told them again that our room had not been cleaned and we were still waiting for towels. I was offered no apology or explanation. Three star hotel – I think not

“Awful accommodation but hearty breakfast”

I reminded the front staff that there was a cockroach inside the bathroom but the only response was a shrug which lividly reflects a subpar nature of this hotel. In addition, there is now a city tax that I was charged after the fact & clearly not aware that this is customary based on the absence at other hotels in Milan & sorrento.
The crowne plaza across & adjacent from this place will be more suitable in the future if one is looking at an accommodation not too far from the Vatican which is around 3km thus will take one a less brisk of a walk of 30-45 mins & around €10 by taxi. Parking at this hotel is free

“Not the best.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 April 2012

This hotel is quite out of rome city center, there is a bus stop right outside though that can get you into the city center for 1 euro, however the bus to get back is not situated in the same place, it took us two hours to find the bus stop just to get back to the hotel, you are much better off walking to the metro 15 mins away as it is so much easier to get around.

As for the hotel, the rooms are tiny, the bed sheets are not changed daily, you have to request fresh towels as they are only changed once every 3 days, the toiletries were not once changed while we stayed here for 10 days and the staff were extremely rude and acted as though they were inconveniced by you if you so much as asked for them to be replaced. the lifts were out of order 4 times while we here, the stairs were dirty and there was mold on the walls. our room had two single beds pushed together with a double sheet put over

the hotel offers and I quote 'high speed internet' by this they mean two old mac desktops from the early 2000s that are connected to dial up modems in the lobby, for the privledge of using them you are charged 5 euros per half hour. it took me around about half an hour to post 5 messages on facebook the connection was so slow. there was no wifi

the hotel does not have a resturant but a large dinning hall that is used for functions so you cannot have dinner in the hotel or lunch unless you are part of a group, the hotels location pretty much makes it impossible to have dinner in a resturant as it is so far from the city center. you can buy snacks from the bar but it is only pizza and junk food which becomes extremely tiresome after a few nights. the bar is not a real bar, more like a snack bar that happens to sell some spirits.

the hotel has no atmosphere what so ever and can only be described as a convention center, all through the night coaches filled with children and large groups pull up, go to the dinning hall to get fed, a privlidge which you cannot be a part off! and then continue to make alot of noise while trying to find thier rooms.

the local area is quite nice with friendly people, the weekends however are a differnt story especially at night time, while walking back from the metro station one friday evening we came across a large group of children who were snorting what looked like cocaine of a green electric box, pretty scary! one saturday morning i walked to a florist to get my wife some flowers and was followed by a group of teenagers who i'm pretty sure were trying to decided weather or not it was worth robbing me, the hotel has sign at reception that states local youths had been snatching hand bags and pretending to be police men to steal peoples wallets

the one good thing about the hotel is that every morning you get breakfast included, which is quite extensive! however the large groups tend to think it is laid out only for them and give you dirty looks as though you are not suposed to be there.

I would never stay in this hotel again or reccomend this hotel to anyone, do your self a favour and pay the extra cash for a central hotel you will have a much better experience.
