“Reasonably priced, well located nice hotel”

Location is very nice: Colosseum is close, tubestation even closer and hop on/hop off tours run close by. Rooms aren't that amazing, but clean, airconditioned and good for sleeping. Prices are really reasonable and definately worth it! Breakfast is okay, dining area is smallish, but there's a nice patio outside with enough room. The only probelm with this hotel was the reception girl: it was impossible to get a smile from her and she didn't seem that friendly... There were some guys filling in for her at times, and they were much more friendly to customers and they even knew how to smile. All and all very good hotel for the price!

“Hotel fine for a small B&B”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 June 2011

We stayed here for 5 nights at the end of May 2011. If what you are looking for is a small B&B in the centre of Rome for a reasonable price then The Espana is fine. The room had a large double bed with a safe, air conditioning,TV, en-suite facilities and a small balcony over-looking the back garden/patio area. Everything was very clean with good decor, plenty of wardrobe and shelving space. The breakfast was self-service with a reasonable choice and you could sit inside or outside. Reception is manned 24/7. The hotel is situated on a quiet street just off the busy Via Manzoni and the Metro station Manzoni is about a 5 minute walk away. We felt quite safe walking around the immediate area. There are about 5-6 restaurants nearby, at the top end of Via Manzoni. We ate mainly at the Tempio di Minerva (or BoBo's) at the top of Via Manzoni on the left hand side - always very busy, very welcoming and excellent food at a good price. There is a large supermarket about 2 minutes away from the hotel. I would stop here again.

“The most disgustin, intolerable place on earth!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 April 2011

My wife and I have been traveling europe and we ended up at this armpit of a hotel. Most the staff wAS actually ok, but the bearded guy was just ridculous, and i actually think he was the owner or manager. breakfast i really didnt expect much for continental, but i didnt think id have to turn on the machines 10 minutes after breakfast was supposed to start (twice.) also if i'm in a hotel in a hot area and i need to shower more than once a day just to cool off i should be allowed extra towels, but the bearded dude seems to think there is a shortage of cotton in the world. Dont come here....ever
