I've stayed in a lot of hostels and the Yellow House is probably the nicest one I've been in. I stayed in a 6 bed mixed dorm and it was very big and spacious. Most hostels try to fit as many beds in as they can, but not here, everyone had plenty of space to themselves. The lockers go underneath the beds which is great for saving space in the room and you can get a lock at reception if you didn't bring your own, which I hadn't. The main door to the hostel gets locked in the night, but if you ring the intercom and show your key they'll leave you in. The bar was really nice to hang out in and meet new people, it had a great atmosphere and drinks were pretty reasonable compared to some other places in Rome.

If I'm in Rome again I'd definitely stay here a second time.

I've traveled several places in Europe and stayed in countless hostels and this, by far, is my favorite. Good beds, fun bar connected to the hostel, and the front desk people can't be beat! You can't beat the 2 euro peroni nights!

Stayed here on a solo trip to Rome. This is a good place to start your visit, central location. It was clean, comfortable and had a restaurant/ bar downstairs. I liked it here but was not overly impressed. It was a comfortable place to stay but I wonder if there were friendlier places where it might have been easier to meet other people. The reception area was a bit cold and unfriendly and unless I missed it, I don't think there was much of a common area to hang out and meet others.

The hostel was highly rated by reviewers thanks to it's "thriving" bar, but the bar was kind of dead most of the time and it's not the key factor that should make you choose this hostel. Price was good, although some mistakes of the receptionists during the check-in process almost made us pay extra 22 euros for no reason. The shower, at least in our room (6 bed mixed with private bathroom) was extremely small with no place to hang out clothes or put them. One day we also had no hot water.
