“Great location and great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2010

The Hotel Montecitorio is a great place to sleep. You won't find a luxurious lobby, or a gourmet restaurant, it has neither of these things. But the rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful, the air conditioning works very well, and the price is extremely reasonable, for the historical centre of Rome. Our room was very small -- the king-sized bed took up most of it -- but the bathroom was quite large. There is no restaurant, but you're only steps from several bars and restaurants. On the first morning, we found a nice little bar around the corner (Bar della Vite) from the hotel and quickly became well-looked-after regulars for breakfast. We walked everywhere in Rome, which was easily done from our hotel's very central location. A luxurious hotel is a nice treat, but we decided that we'd rather spend our money on fabulous dinners and souvenirs, than hotel extras. We would stay at the Montecitorio again.

“BED BUGS”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2010

I went there the summer of 2009 and there were BED BUGS. The front desk guy wouldn't give us our money back. We got into a huge fight with him and the police even got involved. They are such liars! we had to move to another much more expensive hotel. It was gross. DONT GO

“if you are looking for very low budget hotel without service this is it...”

The hotek is situated within walking distance to the Trevi fountain and spanish steps. The room is extremely small, so is the shower. They have no service whatsoever and the receptionist is not helpful at all, she is actually a stuck up, except for some of the male receptionist that were at least trying to be helpfull. You have to walk into a patio then go up a flight of steps with your luggage take an old elevator and then go down another flight of steps. There is nobody to help you. I also recommend you take you alarm clock as they are not very good at giving you a wake up call, we almost missed out flight. Needless, to say if you can afford to pay a little more please do not stay here.......

“Great location, but totally not satisfactory.”

The location is great. It's located right in the middle of via del Corso. But the first impression is depressing. First, it is a little bit hard to locate it, since it is not like an ordinary hotel image you have in mind. It is located on the third floor of a building, hard to find. The receptionist is not friendly at all, or appeared to me so at least, and each word she says is like that you have forced her to talk. The room is not terrible, but the whole decoration and building is so old. The price is relatively high and the breakfast is not served also. The safety box of my room also didn't work and the receptionist told me that it was my problem, and I had to carry my money and passport with me all day long! I changed my place after the first night and I am thankful that at least they didn't charge me more than they did, for cancellation!
