I stayed in Daniel's Sweet Home B&B for three weeks total while I was in Rome this year, between late May to mid June while I was the visiting on scholarship for my research. I stayed in one room without en suite bathroom and one with en suite. Neither suffered from predictable issues like lack of hot water, mess or lineups-the rooms and bathrooms were always clean and never populated with more than four to a room. There isn't a laundry facility, but there is a laundromat nearby with drop-off and do-it-yourself rates. The rates were reasonable and with it you have use of a shared kitchen-this helped me save considerable coin on food expenses. There is a large grocery store no more than six minutes away on foot and pastries, cheese, bread, etc. within two to three blocks. Great and (less) expensive dining than what you would pay in most neighborhoods in the city can be found in Trastevere, which is an easy walk down the river. The rest of the city is easily accessed from either the bus or train or walking-bus and train can be reached across the street. This is a quieter hostel than the ones downtown, which was perfect for me, as I was staying for more than a night. The owner was very considerate and fluent in a variety of languages, which made it simple for booking. Remember to call before you show up, so you don't have to wait on the street for too long, while the owner. The hostel is located directly across from the train station-look for a post-it with a phone number on the buzzer box by the gate-there are pay phones in the train station that you can use.
When I return to Rome, I will certainly return to this hostel without hesitation.

After a huge debacle with a different B&B that we initially booked for our last night in Rome, (they weren't there and couldn't be reached...) we were left stranded in the middle of Rome at 9pm on a Tuesday, with all our bags from a 2 week trip. Luckily, our kind and generous cab driver that we had made friends with, had made some phone calls for us, and found us a room at Daniel's Sweet B&B.
Despite the late hour, the hostess came to meet us and show us the room. Through a gate and up the stairs we found our room. Our room was very clean and neat with a flat screen tv on the wall and a clean private bathroom. We were leaving for the airport at 6am, so we weren't there for breakfast, but the fridge in the community kitchen was stocked with drinks and yogurt, etc. if we wanted it.
It also cost less than the other B&B that we reserved! We had a great night's sleep and left early in the morning, so we weren't there for very long, but I would absolutely come back.

We stayed in September 2009. We booked on Hostel world and paid a very reasonable rate for Rome. We arrived at a block of flats to find a post it with the landladies number on. We had to go over to the bus station across the road in what felt like the middle of nowhere to use the pay phone to call her. She arrived within 10 minutes. We then were walked about 10 minutes to a block of flats. We were shown to our flat, which was just a residential flat on the outskirts of Vatican City. Our flat was actually next to the landladies own flat so she was on hand if there was any issues, she was a lovely lady. The flat was clean and breakfast was nothing special just stocked cupboards with mini muffins, milk and yoghurts. Great coffee though !! Rome is so amazing and if you just want a cheap place to stay so you can really explore then this is the place to stay. It felt like we had rented a flat and it was just fine for what we wanted. Oh and Sardinian restaurant out front of apartments do an amazing meze of meat or fish. AMAZING but pricey - no menu so ask for price before you order. We think we may have been ripped off ... but so amazing was worth it.

Location: about a 10 minute walk to the Vatican City. Area was quiet, yet safe. 20-30 (depending on traffic) minute bus ride into roma terminal. Several good local restaurants nearby. Room: was comfortable and value for money. Clean rooms and clean bathrooms with good water pressure. Breakfast was standard, nothing to get excited over (yoghurt, packaged croissants, juice, italian dried toasted bread, and spreads). There's no reception and the owner is offsite, but is she is contactable by phone should problems arise. Overall, a great stay, would definitely stay here again!
