“Highly recommended”

Great location, in the center of Rome. It is near Repubblica metro stop, and near bus stops. Very friendly staff. The room was very clean. The only problem was that it was a bit noisy, because you can hear the kitchen staff in the morning and the other tenants-if they are noisy. You also get 30 minutes of free internet use of th ehotel's computer. In general I would highly recommend it for a couple, or a group of friends!

“Great Location and Good Hotel- highly recommend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2010

We stayed at the Elide for four days in August. The rooms and hotel are minimalistic- small room, pay extra for Air Conditioning (10 euros a night), small bathroom, small tv with Italian channels only. But the location is excellent, close to the train station (Repubblica and Termini) as well as bus stops. We didnt eat breakfast in the hotel as it was just OK. There are a lot of restaurants and vendors a short walk away which I recommend. If you are flying into Rome, the hotel is very close to the Termini station which has a direct bus service from the airport (4 euros a person, can be booked when exiting the airport).

Overall, good experience and would stay again if I went to Rome.

“Good Location, Spacious Clean Rooms & Good Service - Recommended”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2009

My husband & I stayed for 3 nights in May and were given room 114 which is just off the reception area. We were worried about potential noise however it was doubled doored so it was very quiet. The room was very spacious by European standards and had what looked like the original painted ceiling and door frame. The room had a large double bed which was comfortable; a fridge; Flat Screen TV (all Italian channels); double glazing & Air conditioning (extra charge). The shower room was modern & spotlessly clean. The Room was made up daily. Staff were helpful and friendly. We were charged an extra 10 euros per night for aircon and breakfast for two which is less than the quoted price. Breakfast was very basic - tea/coffee, bread rolls, cakes and jam. It was fine though and there are plenty of places adjacent to the hotel to get food & drink. The hotel is in a very good location on a quiet side street but close to the metro (Republica) and the main Termini. It is also located in easy walking distance to many of the major sites. Bearing in mind how expensive accommodation is in Rome I think that it offers pretty good value for money. When checking out of the hotel we were told that their credit card machine was broken and that we had to pay in cash. This wasn't ideal as we had to run to the bank around the corner to withdraw the cash. It's not the Ritz, but if you would like a clean, comfortable and well located hotel in the centre of Rome then I would definitely recommend the Hotel Elide.

“Amazing surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 May 2009

I selected the hotel one night befor arrival. I was surprise to find that the rooms are fully renovated. The shower was great and the bed superb. The location is hust in the middle of Rome with walking distance to any location. I truly recommend it. The rooms are not big but sufficient. I'll be back for sure.

“Generally ok, but decent location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2009

Generally ok but if you're not fussy this hotel is worth it for the convenience of location! We checked in late so took a walk to a local bar nearby. When that closed we walked a few minutes down the main street only to come face to face with the Trajan Column and the breathtaking Victor Emmanuel Monument all lit up, with the Coliseum about 5 minutes walk to our left!

The hotel itself is pleasant enough, although basic. We stayed at the start of Winter so it was fairly cold with no heater that we could see. The gentleman on reception was amiable and came downstairs to help find me a place to park. However, in the morning when I was a whole 15 minutes late for breakfast I was told I could not have any, despite the cereal and bowls still being laid out. This I thought was astoundingly bad service.

Together with the cold rooms I'd otherwise choose somewhere else but bearing in mind the location I might be swayed to stay here again.

  • Liked — Location - close to the tourist attractions
  • Disliked — COLD rooms (in winter)
