“Perfect for the self sufficient traveler”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

This beautiful old bed and breakfast type hotel in a 200 year old building is perfect for the economy minded traveler who does not demand 24 hour service. There are 15 guest rooms with 5 rooms on 3 floors. The rooms small, but well appointed. There is not much storage space and the bathroom, by American standards, are tiny, but the rooms are spotless and well equipped with good heating and plenty of hot water, even if the shower is slightly smaller than the elevator, which is the smallest in the world. The hotel supplies a variety of free refreshments, including juices, crackers, cookies, etc. and breakfast (croissants and variety of other breads) and has an expresso maker, all of which are included in the price of the hotel.

Special kudos to Alesandro (sp. ?), who was helpful in every way. He gave us us a map and marked the significant landmarks and gave us advice on buses, trains, and other information we requested. He went beyond the call of duty to help us.

The location is a half a kilometer (1/4 mile) from the central train station (Termini). It is walking distance to all the major sites of central and historic Rome, yet far enough from the hubbub and noise associated with the Piazza Square. It is on a quite street one short block from a main thoroughfare. We never felt unsafe, like some other reviewers. We travel a lot, so we are very aware of our surroundings. Maybe the front door is a little in need of painting, but the interior area of the hotel is delightful.

We found our room to be extremely quite, especially after 10:00 p.m. The only noise we heard was our fellow guests walking up and down the tiled hallways and opening and closing their room doors. The door locks are very secure and use a traditional key and take some getting use to. Our bathroom overlooked a delightful courtyard and our bedroom looked out on the backside of a beautiful bassilica.

You will have no problems finding a wide choice of casual to fine restaurants nearby.

Room Tip: Room no. 4 and 5 on any of the three floors have the most privacy.

“Great!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Best service! Best location! It was in the middle of Rome, but at night you heard NO noise from the city. The rooms are all tucked away in the back of the building by a church. It was the best sleep we have had in any city area. They put out nice snacks, juice, coffee and tea everyday for us. the room was very clean.

“Great price, good location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011 via mobile

My husband and I stayed here for our first trip to Rome. We loved the location because it was off the busy touristy streets and on a quiet side street. It felt more like an apartment than a hotel. Our room was very clean and my husband loved the one cup esspresso maker!
Staff consisted of one gentleman who greeted us and made himself available for us to contact during our stay. He was very helpful and friendly! Overall a great place!

“great value for money- honey♥mooners”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

First, we have to point out the great service: the people who run the place are so nice and accommodating. When my wife and I arrived late in the evening, someone was waiting just for us to arrive. He pointed all the main sites on the map and means and ways to get there - the hotel is really at a great location!
Check out time is at 10 am but we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel and were given keys, so we can come and go freely. At the end of a long day (our flight was at 10 pm) we came back for our luggage and were offered to use the bathroom to freshen up. Additionally the staff member who were there at the time (were guessing the manager) called the airline and made sure our flight is leaving on time (he seemed more stressed then up when at first he couldn’t locate it)!

Our room was very nice looking, clean and very well equipped: wide screen TV, mini fridge, a safe inside the closet and a table with an Espresso machine, a basket with jams, cookies, biscuits, coffee, sugar and off course cups and mugs. Comfortable bed and a nice size European style bathroom with hot water around the clock.

Every morning you get a nice basket of pastries with some sweet ones and some rolls, with all the goodies in the room you have a great breakfast, and some extras to carry you during your day.

The room is cleaned daily and the goodies baskets are refreshed, staff will bend over backwards to help, give advice and make your stay more pleasant, nice touches we found wee the in room advice printed that they ask you to be quiet for others guests sake, important phone numbers and must see museums.

The hotel is very close to termini station-but not in the termini neighborhood (which can be a bit unpleasant at late night when everything is closed inside termini itself).

we would like to recommend the supermarket in termini (one level down from street level, very close to the stairs) although there is a supermarkets and few smaller stores near the hotel (either ends of the street) the one in termini is much bigger and has a wider verity of ready-made snacks, a fresh bakery inside and is cheaper than the ones near the hotel), combined with the in room small fridge you can have some great chesses, cold drinks and nutella on hand (bring your own bag as plastic bags costs extra)!

Napoli restaurant just round to the left corner of the hotel is a great place to get some freshly made pasta and pizza with amazing service and lots of locals, always a great sign of the quality of the food.

Just opposite the restaurant you'll find during morning a small market with fresh products and some odds and ins.

we had a great time! ( i love you shooshie)

“Excellent accommodation, great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

We were really pleased with the level of accommodation and service at Aenea and contrary to many reviews on accommodation in Rome, the staff couldn't have done more for us. The location is perfect, easy walking distance to Termini, Colosseum and we walked everywhere (aside from to the Vatican). The room was very clean, well-proportioned and perfect for our stay ( we were on 2nd floor, are other rooms on 1st floor.) My husband was sceptical at first when we arrived as this is not like a hotel with an obvious entrance, it resembles more of an apartment entrance but that is the only criticism (and isn't really even one !). Breakfast was great, basket of bread and pastries with excellent coffee machine and all you need to start your day. Room decor is a mix of traditional whilst being modern and was very clean. All in all, really glad we chose this accommodation as I took a long time trawling through reviews and was not disappointed. We went to several nearby restaurants, the best being La Mela D'Or - staff and food excellent and prices reasonable.
