“Don't ruin your vacation”

I travel a lot in Italy and understand Americans can be more demanding than Europeans. My demands are more within the European range. Arriving at the Bellavista, I expected little more than the airport hotel we'd have otherwise gotten. However I had requested an ocean view room but was told no such request was on file. Instead we were shown a cramped room on the ground floor at the back with a broken AC. I asked to change but that was all that was available there or anywhere else in walking distance. My complaints regarding the disgusting conditions below were met with a shrug.

In the room the floors were weirdly sticky. There was used chewing gum ground into the bedspread with hair stuck in it. The toilet seat was cracked. There was mold growing in the bathroom cup holder and soap dispenser which ran out of soap mid-shower attesting to how often they bother refilling it. The shower door repeatedly popped out of the cheap frame allowing water to spray into the bathroom.

The halls look like they were decorated in 1983 and have the scuffs and stains to attest to the last renovation. Our room's door numbers had fallen off and were sort of penciled in. We heard bangs from doors and other hall traffic throughout the night.

It's definitely a hotel that has spared every expense when it comes to service. They have an attitude of "we are near the beach so we don't have to try." Save yourself the heartbreak and stay at the Airport Hilton.

Dear Madam,

Since a few days our hotel decided to make some important changes in management and structural relationships with the public. For this reason I'm going to respond to your message only now.

When You have stayed in our hotel there might have been some unpleasant contingencies that can be attributed mostly to the management rather than the hotel itself.

Because of that, there was a mistake in the booking, that's why your booking (room with sea view) had been erroneously changed with a room (nr. 318) that shouldn't have been rented as it was under maintenance.

We take all the responsibilities as, unlike now, we can no longer permit to rent rooms that do not reach the highest standards.

I agree on all your statements about the room, and I, as hotel's owner, was not there due to some family problems and didn't know about this mistake. Worse still is that this room was just given to a person who had already booked.
I think that the receptionist had made a mistake of overbooking and, finding no other solution since the area is completely full in peak season, has decided however to give the room.

I want to thank You personally for your opinion because by the photos You published You helped us to raise our standards, for example by changing the soap dispenser (even if it's clear that if someone removes it there are those brown signs inside left by the liquid soap in the inner plastic part of the dispenser).

The shower you have photographed, as I said should have been repaired, and that's why the room was under maintenance, as indeed the damaged toilet cover and the bed covers.

I do not agree with what You wrote about the reception. The reception area is well furnished, as You can see in the photos on our website and on Tripadvisor, there are no signs or scuffs as You said.
Obviously one can or can't like the style of the forniture, but saying that it is dated back to the 80's is false and not very nice and personally offends the myself and the structure.
What You have found here is what You have seen in the photos before doing your booking, and I invite any visitor to see that they are accurate and conform to reality.

We are pleased to invite You again at our expense to let You see the changes and to spend some nice time here in our beautiful Rome.

My kindest regards.

Antonino Buda

“Do not have high expectations about this hotel”

Let's describe it in simple way; good points and bad points.
Good points: nice view from the balcony towards the sea, large terrace (we were given the best room, i guess with the largest terrace style balcony with direct sea view:-), not far from main railway station to Rome, shops and places to eat
Bad points: (where do i begin?:-) hot water wasn't hot enough for October, had to run the water and wait for a while until it warmed up a little. Shower cubicle gets blocked immediately, so you stand in cold water and have a slightly warmer shower. Afterwards you get cold. Air conditioning - we could not get it work for warm air, but luckily the weather was not too cold, so we did not use it. Wall sockets - they are old, we could not use the charger for our laptop. Breakfast was the same everyday, not much choice and rather poor. There is a jacuzzi on the top terrace, but to use sauna you have to pay additional charge 8 EUR per person.

Gentilissiamo sig. Danilo,

Cordiali saluti

Alessandro Buda
