I travel a lot in Italy and understand Americans can be more demanding than Europeans. My demands are more within the European range. Arriving at the Bellavista, I expected little more than the airport hotel we'd have otherwise gotten. However I had requested an ocean view room but was told no such request was on file. Instead we were shown a cramped room on the ground floor at the back with a broken AC. I asked to change but that was all that was available there or anywhere else in walking distance. My complaints regarding the disgusting conditions below were met with a shrug.
In the room the floors were weirdly sticky. There was used chewing gum ground into the bedspread with hair stuck in it. The toilet seat was cracked. There was mold growing in the bathroom cup holder and soap dispenser which ran out of soap mid-shower attesting to how often they bother refilling it. The shower door repeatedly popped out of the cheap frame allowing water to spray into the bathroom.
The halls look like they were decorated in 1983 and have the scuffs and stains to attest to the last renovation. Our room's door numbers had fallen off and were sort of penciled in. We heard bangs from doors and other hall traffic throughout the night.
It's definitely a hotel that has spared every expense when it comes to service. They have an attitude of "we are near the beach so we don't have to try." Save yourself the heartbreak and stay at the Airport Hilton.
