“Pleasant experience”

I actually found the staff quite friendly overall. Lukas treated me very well when I checked in -- and his command of English was almost like a native! The location is good and convenient. As for the breakfast, I am reading comments from others -- but that's Italian breakfast for you!! They are not big breakfast people like, say, the English of the Americans. For a brief stay it was sufficient for me. I would stay there again when I return to Rome.

“bare bones basic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2010

The plusses - good location - 10 mins walk from Termini train station and 30 min walk to Pantheon; rooms are clean; decent price; wifi access. The negatives - even though it's on the 5th floor - it's loud (but this is Rome); hot water showers last 45 seconds; absolutely zero cozy atmosphere. All in all - it's a decent choice for the low-maintenance traveler.

“Bargain”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2009

Landed in Rome with no accomadation. So we went to the Last minute counter at the train station to see what we could get for 3 nights. We were told there was not that much accomadation available, but Ares rooms was available with a shared bathroom, so we took it. When we arrived we were pleasantly supprised. The room was very clean and tidy as was the shared bathroom.Location was good, breakfast was coffee and pastry from corner shop, but for the price we paid for the accomadation i cannot complain. It was a bargain compared to other places we stayed at in Italy

“Forget breakfast”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2009

This was booked for me by my travelling companion, so I didn't bother to check reviews. Now I wish that I had. The review by jmisdraji would have warned me what to expect.

The worst part was the breakfast. A voucher was supplied that got you a coffee and a croissant in a nearby bar, with tables by a busy road. It really wasn't worth bothering with.

Almost as annoying were various problems with the plumbing. The sink leaked, so a towel had been put underneath to catch the drips; a better idea would have been to get it fixed. The mechanical plug was jammed ajar; it could neither be completed closed nor properly opened. It was eventually removed leaving just the gaping hole. The shower head was faulty but was replaced with a new one. For reasons that never became clear, the shower sometimes failed to produce hot water. Most oddly of all, the towels always seem to smell of vinegar.

Finally, the room was a bit dirty. There was dust on the floor and in drawers.

My advice: spend a little more and stay somewhere nicer.
