“One to avoid.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 March 2011

Me and my fianceé stayed here for 3 nights and it was an ordeal to say the least. Cracks and stains on the walls, chipped and dirty headboard, a wardrobe that you would expect to see in a 50's horror film and walls that are paper thin so if you choose to stay here, get used to hearing ambulances (with their unique siren that is constant) and the beloved train. Upon first arriving we were wondering how we would last and talked of staying out as late as possible so we would be tired enough to just sleep to avoid spending anymore moments awake in the room than we had to. After having been out from 7am until late at night I flicked on the TV which was useless unless you are fluent in Italian as that is all you will get and some clever person has decided to replace all the remotes with ones that will infuriate you so much you wont bother scanning through to see if there is anything on. Trastevere is beautiful but since this isn't actually in trastevere you will be treated to homeless people in droves, filthy streets and a long walk to see anything. The breakfast is great if you want sweet dried bread with cheese and ham and orange juice which was in fact cordial. The hotel staff were rude, and the less time spent here the better. Heed my warning or you too will suffer the same fate for a night in this hotel is enough to torture the soul of any man! (woman, child)

“Served its purpose”

We booked the hotel because we wanted to stay in the area of Trastevere which we heard would be a real 'Roman experience'. Unfortunately the hotel was not actually in the centre of Trastevere and was infact over a 20 minute walk to get there. The area which the hotel was in wasn't particularly nice, the only good thing I would say is that it is very close to the train station.
The reception area of the hotel was very nice and clean but the hotel staff member who served us wasn't very friendly although he did tell us a little place we could eat which was very nice.
The room we stayed in was a double room but wasn't very big at all. The walls were dirty and they had big cracks in too. The bathroom was very small but it was clean and seemed quite new unlike the room.
Breakfast in the morning was included in the price but was very basic and not particularly interesting or tasty.
Overall for our first trip to Rome the hotel served its purpose, it gave us a roof over our heads but knowing Rome a bit better now if we were to return then we wouldn't stay at this hotel.

“Ok ... for a very short trip”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2010

This place was recommended to us by an Italian friend. We booked a 'double economy' room and paid Eur 60 per night up-front. Our friend also booked the same room type but didn't pay up front. We were given the tiniest room you could imagine and he was given a room of normal size. I asked to upgrade and was shown a normal sized room for Eur 70 a night and this was perfectly fine, with a normal sized bed and bathroom (but in the end we stayed in the small room). My advice is pay the Eur 10 extra for your sanity.

I am used to staying in small and basic rooms but, for four days, this was pretty unbearable. There was approximately 1 meter square of free space that was not taken up by bed or furniture. There was no space to put our two large bags and it was impossible for two people to be standing up in the room at one time. I am not joking; it was really *that* small. Beware too, of the bed. It's really a large single and, if you are of large body build, you will not be able to get into the shower. The heating also made dripping and clanging sounds all night (which won't be a problem if you are there in the summer).

On the positive side, the place was clean and the staff friendly. The normal sized rooms seemed like good value - just don't pay until you get there. Once they have your money, you'll be shoved into the worst room.

It's pretty far from any attractions and from the centre of Trasevere but the tram stop is located 50 meters from the hotel so it's quite convenient. The tram stops around midnight though, so you'll have to fork out for a taxi if you're out late.

“Noisy, dirty - don't book here unless you absolutely must”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2010

To begin, this is not a three star hotel. The hotel is located adjacent to a major road so you will hear ambulances and motorbikes and cars at all hours of the night. The rooms are dirty and the carpets in the halls are in serious need to replacing (dirt is ground in). The breakfast should be skipped. It is not worth the money to stay here. Go elsewhere. I had no choice as there was a U2 concert where concert goers filled all the usual hotels.

“Clean and efficient hotel in 'real Rome'”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2009

This was our third visit to Rome and we decided to stay in a slightly more authentic part of Rome away from the centre of tourism, This Hotel was ideal, situated as it is very close to a tram station which took us the short distance to the centre of the city. The Hotel is clean and efficient... the reception/common area and dining room being positively gleaming! Our room was quite basic but perfectly comfortable. Breakfast adequate. Trastevere in itself is full of life with numerous busy restaurants and a great atmosphere at night with locals as well as tourists.
