“nice hotel, just outside center, basic rooms, basic breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

Comparing quality to prices for hotels is difficult in Rome, especially when there is
an event in the city just like when we were there last april.
We we happy to have found a (basic) three star Hotel for a four/five star price, but there was the vent with the former pope and it is Rome.
The hotel can be reached (coming from the center) by train, -bus and tram.
You have to take some stairs to get at the hotel, but not so many as other people seem to remember in there revieuws. Breakfast is decent and basic . Rooms are clean but need (in our case) some small repairs. Personell is very friendly and helpfull

“beware!”

The pictures are deceptive! The lobby has been upgraded but the rooms are the original 70's decore with the original carpets and mattresses. The room had soot all around the walls, we saw cockroaches, and had to switch 3 rooms before we got a working air conditioning system, which made the room tolerable but not cold.
The only saving aspect was the cordial staff which unfortnuately did not make up for the bad rooms.

“Avoid Avoid Avoid”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2011 via mobile

Air conditioners in several rooms did not work. They moved our group from room to room several times, air conditioners all sucked. Area around hotel littered with beer bottles and hypodermic needles. Lobby is nice, rooms aren't.

If you really dislike someone, tell them to stay here.

“Thank you, friends!”

If it were not for the stairs... I loved my stay here. Pamela and Steban were friendly and helpful when my purse was stolen at Trastevere train station. The room was tiny, but clean and with a comfy bed after long walks in the city. And breakfast was plentiful. The neighborhood is worth seeing. I'll never forget these days. Thank you again!

“nice hotel in Trastevere area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2011

I stayed at Villa Rosa hotel for 10 days at the end of February 2011 with my working collegues, as we partecipated at Big Blu nautical fair at Rome fair, therefore we chose a hotel that was cheap enough for our company budget, as we got 3 doubles for single use for 48EUR/per room/per night, which was excellent for us.Breakfast included.
Luckily we had a GPS, so at least we made it to the hotel which is in a tiny street up to the Circovallazione Gianincolense and very close to Trastevere train station and also cable trains passed by there.
The staff at the reception was really handy. The double rooms were actually really tiny, but since were used as single, it was just enough.Rooms were cleaned daily which was great.Breakfast was regular, you could drink as many coffees as you wanted, eat as many croissants you wished. But after 10 days of same food we were a bit fed up. In the night the below main street was a bit noisy as there was an ambulance statoin up the street.Since we traveled with a van, we parked it in a guarded parking lot about 400mtr from the hotel on that main street...25 EUR at night, but at least we knew our vehicle was safe.
All in all Villa Rosa was a cozy choice for us, who had to travel to Rome fair every day (close to highway connections to Fiumicino) and not very far from city centre (about 15 min with bus, which costs 1 EUR single).
I would reccomend this hotel for a budget traveller, but if you're looking for luxury, don't go there.Last thing. If you wish to have wireless internet you need to pay for a password, which costs 5 EUR for 2 hours and 10 EUR for 5 hours, so think if you really need all that internet surfing.
