Whatever you do, do not stay at Carpe Diem.

A friend of mine and I were traveling in Rome and booked a room at Carpe Diem. We followed the directions to the B&B and were unable to find it despite being on the street it was located on. There is no sign outside and the B&B is really just a few apartments in an apartment building so the only sign is a buzzer on the apartment entry.

This seemed odd to us, but we proceeded inside to check in. We had trouble again getting in and finding which room Carpe Diem was in and even asked other people in the building who had never heard of it. We buzzed the B&B again and were yelled at by the owner as we tried to find the right apartment.

Once we got in, the experience went from bad to worse. Pretty much this place looks like the brothel scene from the moven Taken. It is old and raggedy and the furniture looks like it was pulled out of a frat house. The staff were abrasive and made us very uncomfortable. They yelled at us again as we tried to ask questions about our room and told us we would have to switch rooms in the middle of our stay. We were not happy about this and told the staff who were so rude and angry to us that we were feeling unsure of our safety even being in the front room of the apartment with the staff. We were told we couldnt leave when we tried to go to lunch with our bags by the staff who tried to keep us in the area of the "B&B" even though we had already paid them before arriving.

The location of this hotel is also pretty far from Termini station and the neighborhood turns bad where this is located. The street is all covered in graffiti and is definitely not the safest area.

We decided not to stay here or even leave our bags there while we looked for a new place to stay because we felt so threatened by the staff. It was an absolutely horrible experience. The place is gross, the staff is terrible, and we were generally concerned for our safety.
