“Do not miss this friendly, hospitable bed and breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 May 2011

I am still here at the bed and breakfast but couldn't wait until my checkout to write a review. Before I even arrived, Ylenia was in constant contact with me to provide directions and even offered pick up from the train station (I was arriving from the port of Civitavecchia). She has given me advice on what to do and made me feel very comfortable to be a woman traveling alone in Rome for the first time. Upon arrival I was shocked to see how beautiful the grounds are as it is not represented fully on the website. Wow! I was then greeted in such a friendly manner, sat down for a cappuchino and snack while waiting for the room (I arrived early in the morning) and then escorted up to an immaculate beautiful room. Breakfast in the morning is not the typical fare I had expected of perhaps some cereal or a banana. You will be sat down and served a feast fit for a king. So far, breakfast has been a large bowl of fruit, some home cooked danish, home cooked cannoli type concoction (that is amazing), yogurt, and a plate of mozzarella and tomatoes. I have yet to come close to eating all of it and each morning Sabine has packaged up the remainder to bring with me on my trips into Rome. After having told the owners yesterday about my trouble finding vegetarian food, I arrived last night to a home cooked meal of crepes with spinach and ricotta made by Dotta, the owners mother. Seriously, I've NEVER experienced anywhere near this level of hospitality and it would have been well worth the price if I had paid double. The location is just outside of Rome, which means that there is about a five block walk to the bus station, but for one euro the bus goes DIRECTLY to the Vatican or wherever else you choose to go. Also, free high speed wireless internet access. It is so peaceful here with only the chirping of the birds in the morning. I have the best of both worlds with the fresh air and quiet atmosphere of the country, but an easy hop into the city. Ok, off to enjoy more of my host's fantastic cooking!

“A Relaxing Introduction to Italy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 July 2009

Knowing we had a very long journey to Rome from Australia ahead of us, we were in search of a quiet, comfortable and also affordable place in which to recharge our batteries, before embarking on our tour through Italy.

Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Ylenia and after a brief orientation of the house, shown to our room. Noticing how incredibly tired we were, Ylenia allowed us to pay our bill prior to leaving, despite the policy noting that payment upon arrival is due. We were incredibly grateful to have a clean, comfortable and quiet place to catch up on much needed rest after a 44 hour journey.

Throughout our stay we were made to feel exceptionally welcomed not only by Ylenia, but also by her husband and the young girl who greeted us with breakfast each morning.

For an authentic and local dining experience within walking distance, we highly recommend the 'Spaghetti alle Vongole' (Spaghetti with Clams) at the Tennis Club, which is located across the road.

It is necessary to mention however, that despite fluent communication in English by email, English is not spoken at the B & B at all.

We would absolutely recommend Country Rome Bed and Breakfast, especially for those who have just arrived and wanting a slower paced introduction to Italy.

“ROMAN COUNTRYSIDE B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2008

Upscale Bed & Breakfast in well kept lush gardens - next to Tennis Club & Restaurant - outskirts of Rome -close enough to drive into the city or take public transport.
CAN BE TOUGH TO FIND.

  • Liked — QUIET & clean, modern home
  • Disliked — not much staff available after hours

“Enjoyed our stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2008

We spent 2 nights here and were actually thankful to be away from the frenzy and heat of Rome. The neighborhood is quiet and rooms were clean with good air conditioning. It's a little bit of a walk to the bus or tram stop, but the ride into city center isn't that bad. They sell tickets for the bus right at the hotel, so it's very handy.
The house itself is homey and very comfortable. The family who own it live next door, so you have the run of the house to read or sit out in the lovely yard.
Our daughters enjoyed the free access to the internet, and we all relished the wonderful breakfasts of fresh fruit, little sandwiches and buns with jam. This family works very hard to make you feel comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

“We were very happy to find this place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 March 2007

The bus ride into Rome takes a while each morning but it is worth it as the standard of the accomodation that you get here would be out of reach of the average pocket in the centre of Rome.

The surroundings are also very quiet and after a manic day in Rome that is also very nice. If you walk to St Peter's square area to stop a taxi then it can get you back to the B&B for as little as 10 euros. further in the centre of Rome it will cost more as they have to weave through manic Rome traffic.

The B&B is lovely and by far the cleanest place that I have ever stayed in Italy. Ylania was a pleasure and she made sure that our stay was too.

If you don't mind a short journey and you don't want to pay through the nose then this is the place for you!!
