The location is excellent. In the heart of Trastevere's evening action (which makes it a bit of a noisy spot until late at night) and an easy walk across the Tiber to some of Rome's best attractions (Colosseum, Campo de Fiori market). The host, John Luca, was kind and helpful and even discounted my rate a bit from what he'd quoted on the phone.
That said, what I paid for the room, especially as a solo traveler, seemed quite expensive and over-priced for the quality of the room and breakfast. There was nothing that felt luxurious or even cozy about the room I stayed in on the first floor. The breakfast was self-serve, mostly packaged food, and some fruit, yogurt. The self-serve coffee machine didn't work well, and further held water in a reservoir, which made me wonder how old the water was and how long it was in there. i tried making the coffee, but it didn't taste particularly good. The building that the rooms are in is a bit grungy and also seems a bit sketchy. There is a great pizza place across the street called Dar Poeta.
I paid 70 Euro for the night. Granted, most everything I called in Trastevere was booked for that night. My guess is that when it is slower, they adjust the price to sell rooms. At least I would hope so.
As a previous reviewer mentioned, the provided computer with internet is slow. I had BBC in the room which was nice.
I stayed here because I was desperate for a place that night in Trastevere.
