“Loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2008

Booked online through orangesmile / booking.com
A great place to stay. Very centrally located with close walk to metro, 5 min bus to termini station and buses to all major sites. Can walk to sites, including Colosseum. Quiet street. Thick glass windows and a/c block out all noise. Did not hear any noise from other rooms either. Nice terrace to take breakfast. Clean, large room, comfortable bed. I agree that the shower temp is hard to adjust but we were there in August so only wanted cold showers anyway. I wouldn't let this deter you from staying here. The owner came the first night to greet us personally. Maria, the housekeeper, was very warm and friendly and accommodating. She really made it feel like home. I would recommend this place to anyone. Plus there is a grocery across the street where we bought food for snacks and made sandwiches for dinner. The wine there is super cheap too!

“Great Price & Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 April 2008

This hotel was really a great place to see. Location was about a 5 minute walk from the train station and right around the corner from the Colliseum. We had the 4 person room, so that was great to share. It is a bit noisy at night and very early morning as they are delivering fruit and meat to the little market across the street. Good Restaraunts around the area and great walk to the sites. Highly Recommended.

  • Liked — Helpful Staff Proximity to train station.
  • Disliked — Noise at night and Not a good breakfast.

“Um, not so great”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2006

My wife and I stayed here mid Oct. 2006 our last night in Rome, 130Euro - just wanted a place to crash. We're easy going people and don't let too much bother us, but it was NOISY. The alley/street outside is busy all night. The woman who ran the place was very nice (no English) and even let us borrow her phone (none in the room). The room was nice, small, but it's Rome.

Our major issue came late at night when we were woken up by the owner who told us we were at the wrong hotel!!! He wanted to move us to his other hotel that we had never heard of!! I stood my ground and refused. Had it not been so late, we would have been out of there in a second. I've never even heard of such a thing.

Perhaps this was a weird anomoly, but with all the choices in Rome for comparable prices, I'd avoid this place.

  • Tips/Secrets — Don't bother

“Very central and great place to stay”

The hotel has a great location about a 15 min walk from the Termini and the Coloseum and Roman Forum. Also the street Via IL Boschetto comes out on Via Nazionale where you can get a bus very easily. Residenza has a small studio apartment on the lower level which was great as there is a grocery store opposite and we could make our own breakfast. The deli counter at the store makes a good sandwich too. We stayed there twice and the second time around one of the rooms was a little smaller but overall the rooms are big. The shower stalls are small and the water temperature is hard to adjust but we found that to be similar all over Italy. There is no view from this hotel. Maria the caretaker is great. She is wonderful and does nt speak any english but we communicated fine with our Italian phrase book and gestures. She is willing to help and is always available and smiling. She does turn off the airconditioning when she comes in to clean the room so you do come back to a hot room sometimes. We booked our stay directly on their website.

  • Liked — Its location and the size of the rooms
  • Disliked — The showers & airconditioning
  • Tips/Secrets — Once you find a hotel that you like find out if they have their own website and negotiate the price.
