“I loved it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2010

I stayed in this hotel for 3 days. Considering the price was 35 euros per night, it's very cheap. Also, staff is very polite and nice, and location is cool, near Republica and Termini station. You also have free wifi on the reception. I loved bathrooms, and I was surprised reading other reviews claiming it's noisy, cos I haven't heard any noise, and I am insomniac. The elevator sucks a bit. Oh and i dont think tv worked but who needs tv when in Rome. Other than that, i would ceirtanly come back in giotto flavia hotel again.

“Worst hotel!”

This hotel is very tired (holes in the walls, scrapes on the doors where they had previously been jimmied open) - it didn't feel safe at all. The airconditioning didn't work (should have known something was wrong when we spotted the electric fan on the dresser) and there were cobwebs in the corners of the very tiny room (supposed to be a triple room). The bathroom sink plug was blocked, the TV remote didn't work and worst of all the base of the bed was broken - every time my husband or I rolled over the bed base made the most horrendous scraping sound - we were half expecting plywood splinters to start poking up through the mattress! We stayed in similarly priced hotels in other Italian cities that were far nicer, so it was not a reflection of the price.

“ok for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2010

we chose this hotel as its cheap and near republica. also near the spanish steps, pantheon and shops so this is i guess its an ok accommodation in this very beautiful and historic city. quaint and antiquated elevator. the room is ok for 2 people, but the toilet is very small. friendly front desk, and they have free maps of rome available. come with breakfast, they have a coffee and chocolate drink machine, and a juicer. if you're coming from termini, make sure to alight at republicca station as its nearer. barberini is a long way to via flavia, but you get to pass a nice fountain (triton).
for me this hotel is ok, should be fine for groups.

“Great value for your money!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2010

I spent a lot of time on tripadvisor reading about hotels and read a lot of horror stories about cheap hotels, so I was nervous about Giotto. We were a party of 5 staying in 3 rooms.
We were all very happy with the hotel. The rooms was nice and big. The bathrooms and showers were OK. There was free TV and aircondition. There was even free wireless internet in the 2nd floor lobby! I used it to make video calls to my brother in Denmark wich was cool.

The breakfast was pretty much OK, but some days the bread was not fresh, but ok. There was bread, yogourt, cereal, juice, coffee ect.

The location is not bad. It is a 15min. walk to Trevi Fountain or there is a bus stop 2min. away.

Our only complaint was the horrible noise almost every single night. Apparently they empty the containers, wich was just bellow our window, at around 2 am every night. So remember to bring ear plugs! Otherwise we were all very happy considering this was about the cheapest hotel we could find with good location.

I would also like to point out, that the staff in the reception was VERY friendly and helpful with everything!
And if you stay here do yourself a favor and eat at "Ristorante Il Sorriso" wich is almost just across the street. Good food and very good service.

“If you get a room there for under 60 Euro its ok”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 March 2010

At a discount and all you need is a bed in the closet, it is ok. Felt like a Hostel more so than a hotel like many of these converted apartments in central Rome that have become many small hotels in the same building filled with young students. If you are one on a budget it is worth it. We opted to Switch to Medici a few doors down, (see review). It was actually cheaper, as the Medici charged for the room and not the occupancy. 60 Euro for one person is ok in the Gioto Flavia. However, 120 for two in a room that can barely accommodate one is too much. Just go to a 3 star and pay 110.
