“Switched to another location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 March 2007

When we arrived at Best Comfort Residenza we were told there was a hydraulic problem and no water in the apartment. We were moved to a room in Trastevere 60.

I liked the neighborhood around Best Comfort Residenza much better than around Trastevere 60 and that was the reason I picked this accomodation. Trastevere 60 was very loud and I couldn't sleep well. I'm not convinced that we were ever meant to be staying in Best Comfort Residenza. Unless the problem happened the morning of our arrival we shouldv'e been notified by email that the accomodation we originally booked was no longer available and we could make a choice on whether to accept an alternative.

“Wouldn't go again!”

Stayed in the Best Comfort Residenza, Rome from end of Dec '06 to beginning of Jan '07.

Firstly let me say it was the reviews we read on this website that swayed us towards picking this accomodation. We made a big mistake!

We arrived to the B&B to find there was nobody there to let us in!!! It is located down a narrow side street, which was very isolated. We rang the bell for 20 mins, but there was no answer. Luckily there was a man working opposite the B&B who knew the owner. He pointed me in the direction of a nearby restaurant where I found the owner working! He was totally unphased by the fact that I had been standing outside his B&B waiting!
If that worker had not been there, we would have been left stranded outside the B&B with no accomodation. It was a joke. Very unprofessional.

Eventually got in to the B&B. Was made feel like a hinderence for dragging the owner away from his job.

You have to climb 4 very steep sets of stairs until you get to the B&B. I'm only 25, and I found this tough going. In fact, those stairs act as a disincentive to go back to the room during the day, even if you're tired, because the prospect of facing the stairs is worse.

The B&B advertises friendly, English speaking staff. This is not true. The owner is the only member of staff, and he has very broken English, and is only on the premises from 8.30 - 9.30 to serve breakfast! Not much use if you're looking for some guidance / information.

The room was okay. It is clean. The bathroom was below average, with a shower that barely worked. We had to keep asking for toilet roll, as when it ran out, it was not replaced.

The breakfast was nice. I did like that.

The location is good, as it is near alot of the main attractions, and also near Trastevere (deff check it out!) which we found lovely.

All in all, we had a fantastic holiday, because Rome is so good, its impossible not to, but Best Comfort Residenza had no part to play in it.

Deffinately would NOT go back again. And also, I did not find it cheap at all. We could have got cheaper & nicer accomodation.

  • Disliked — staff & flights of stairs up to accomodation.
  • Tips/Secrets — look elsewhere. there will be some better accoodation than this

“The 'Best' kept secret of Roma”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2006

What can I say, the Best Comfort B&B is one of the nicest places I've ever stayed in. The owners arranged a car transfer for us to and from the airport for a reasonable price considering our flight was late at night and it was over Easter.
There are about 5 rooms in total and although it is up a few flights of stairs (it is in what was an old palace) when you get there it is worth the short walk. The hotel really is a bargain for what you get, the rooms are light and airey and the decor is simple but effective. Everything is nice and clean, and we had a lovely view out over the buildings. The hotel is in a quiet area, located in the ghetto quarter, but is only a short walk from the Colloseu and a metro ride away from all the major sites. The owners were so lovely and accommodating, and even though we hardly spoke a word of Italian, they went out their way to make our stay enjoyable. When I was sick one day they did everything to make me comfortable, and even brought me some food after they had finished working for the night. Roma is a stunning city and the Best is worth seeking out because it's a little gem.

“Excellent”

This B&B has an excellent location; you can walk to almost any important site in downtown Rome. Also the place is kept in prime condition by its owners, which take much pain in making your stay in their place pleasant, we felt as if we were staying with family. The rooms are small but comfy, but definitely it is work every dollar.
