We stayed in this hotel for four nights at the end of a 20-day Italy vacation. While it took a little work to find it (American drivers in rental cars), the location could not have been better. We were no more than 5 minutes from a Metro stop, and less than a 15 minute walk from the Colosseum, the Forum, the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, etc. The Vatican was a 10-minute metro ride away. Neighborhood restaurants were plentiful, moderately priced, and the food was authentic and delicious. A small grocery was nearby for bottled water and snacks.

The hotel was clean, comfortable, and safe. Breakfast was the typical Italian service - croissants, bread, cheese and meat, with endless coffee, and a nice two-hour window to enjoy it.

Service was impeccable. Carmen, the hotel's front desk person, was extremely helpful, friendly, and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed - from directions, to dinner recommendations, and even printing out our boarding passes the day we left. The night person was a wonderful young man (unfortunately I did not get his name) but he was also great - he helped hump our luggage to the 4th floor (no elevator) and refused a tip.

We reserved this room in June, before we realized that we were visiting Rome during the weekend that the Pope was canonizing three new saints - which meant that there were NO rooms available anywhere else in the city. The Hotel Antica-Locanda did not try to bump us, or raise our rate - which has happened before.

I would not hesitate to stay here again!

I stayed here for 5 nights in mid-August and enjoyed the experience very much.
The style of the rooms was impressive and we thought the value for money was outstanding. Small and csoy hotel that offered everything we needed.
Excellent location too - only 2 minutes walk from the coloseum and within walking distance of the majority of Rome's sites.
Breakfast, although simple was always delicious.

Stayed here for 3 nights and would happily recommend it for the price you pay. Great location, friendly & accommodating staff, reasonably priced, a minute walk to a metro station, the Colosseum is just up the road and its a shortish (but pleasant) walk into the centre of the city. The hotel is surrounded by lots of restaurants, go to La Carbonara (www.lacarbonara.it) for a great meal, and a few wine bars. Breakfast (croissants, coffee, juice, cheese and ham) was basic but fine considering the price we paid. My only complaint was it is a little noisy on the road outside, but Rome is a noisy city ;)

For sure this hotel is the worst hotel we've ever stayed.
Unfriendly stuff, poor breakfast - no cheese, no ham, no eggs, no nothing, only pre-packed croissants...The room looked like a hospital saloon, old furniture, etc. It is not like the rooms descriebed on the web site.
It is far away from the center. Need to take a bus for about 12-15 sttops and then to take the metro 6 sttops and then to change the metro from line B to line A for another 6 sttops.
766 bus is coming every 20-30 minutes, so you are going to waste your time waiting for it.
If you want to enjoy lovely days in the beautiful Rome don't even think this hotel is a good option.
