A friend and I stayed here in September of this year. Considering the budget price in central Rome, we weren't expecting too much. Even with low expectations, this place is horrible!! Our room smelled horribly, and the air conditioning was broken. We had to repeatedly complain, and it was fixed in time for our departure, and they didn't discount our room at all.
We paid the balance of our account upon check out, and when I got home I realized they had also charged the credit card I had used to make the reservation. When I emailed to complain, Carmen admitted their mistake and said they would fix it. It has now been over a month, and they have not refunded the money, and are incredibly rude to me over email. Luckily my bank will refund me the amount from the fraudulent charge. Its a good thing my bank actually does their job, otherwise I would be out several hundred Euro.
Save yourselves the aggravation and avoid this place like the plague!

We didn't stay here but happened by it for lunch and we had a very good pizza and good lasagna. It was a cute little setting for a lunch. Can't say anything about the hotel though...

Small hotel, cozy and very welcoming. No elevator, and no phones in the rooms. Each room designed differently, they have Wi-Fi at the entrance floor. The breakfast is very nice.
We loved the fact that it doesn't feel like hotel. We will use this hotel on our next visits in Rome.

Stayed in July at Antica Locanda with a family of 9. The rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious for European standards. Carmen, at the desk, was welcoming and helpful-went out of her way to make our stay a pleasant one. Khalid was also helpful, in the evening. We stayed on the lower floors and could hear all the street traffic and noise but family members in upper rooms were not bothered. The air conditioning was not up to American standards yet we were in Rome during one of the most awful heat waves of 2011. The breakfast was decent and just enough to get you started on your day. It is truly an Italian breakfast of cheese, prosciutto, bread, and jam. The same thing is served everyday so be prepared. The blood orange juice is fabulous...ask for another glass. However, the breakfast staff can be a bit tempermental.
The hotel is located in the Monti region of Rome, a great area the is a few minutes walk from the Coloseum and other major attractions, yet, away from all the hustle bustle of the tourist areas. The hotel is surrounded by quaint little cafes and shops-all within walking distance. We would DEFINITELY stay there again. Be warned-no elevator and lots of stairs.
