“Interesting place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2011

The place can be tricky to find if you end up trying to find the place at night. We walked out of the wrong side of the train station as we were reading our map upside down and ended up in a really doodgy area, but managed to find a taxi and get to the right place.
noise levels can be loud as the walls within are quite thin,
Our double bed was 2 singles pushed together so snuggling up was interesting, but the room was nice and big with a window.
Good location to train station making it easy to get around the city.
Good location for food.

“A Hidden Gem Close to Termini Station”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2010

5 minutes walk from Termini station, which is very convenient to catch public transports to attractions. I was warmly welcome and very well looked after by the family who own this place. There is a market right below the apartment but to much of my surprise, I don't feel much of noise disturbance during my stay. It is even better to grab cheap food as I was on a budgeted city break on this Eternal City. Room was clean with comfy king sized bed and the toilet has access for hot water 24 hours. No curfew and simple breakfast for the reasonable price I paid. Together with my partner, we was also given a discount and chance to dine some luxury food in the restaurant owned by the son-in-law. Thanks and amor to Stella's House!

“Great Place that is cheap and friendly”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2010

My friend and I stayed with Stella for three nights. There were pros and cons with Stella's house. Most of them are listed in previous reviews. The room we had was large with a dining table and window that opened. It was clean but very noisy both inside and outside. the beds were adequate but not luxiourious. Stella is very friendly. We did not have to wait for the bathrooms each day and we got back real late in the night so we were able to sleep right away. It is noisy in the am so if you like to sleep in that might be difficult. Well worth the price and it is very convienent to the Termini station.

“A day in an old italian movie”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2009

We stayed only 2 nights and our feelings are a little bit mixed.
BAD things:
- little room (better say camera): a bed, a chair, a lamp. Nothing more. Old furniture, clothes left by previous visitors in a warddrobe.
- no counterpane on the bed, only blankets: might result freezing in autumn
- 2 bathrooms for 7 rooms, A long quiery at morning. The bathroom window has a view on a terrasa: it's not very comfortable to make all the things you do in a bath with people chatting in 0.5 meter. You can hear them perfectly also they hear you
- no towels, no shampoo, no fan
- a strange soap probably used by everybody in the house
- no internet, no breakfast, no tee. Just a cup of extremely strong coffee (take care of your heartbeat) and some biscuits.

GOOD things:
- it's very crowded: lots of people being guests of Stella
- all this people are not visitors: Stella treats you like a relative: she'll give you the breakfast she's having herself: if she has a cake - she shares a cake with you, if she has a bisquit - she shares a bisquit,
- she's like an aunty: a little strict very caring... you feel yourself a part of a family. It's a real flat with real people: what can be better to feel real italian life? It's like to ba take into an old film: "Italian marriage" or Boccaccio 70.
RESULT
If you want something more then a hotel - go there to feel youself a part of common italian life. But I really doubt it's woth 50 euro per night per room.

“A serious problem”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2009

I am sorry to have to write this review, but I use this website frequently and it is information I would like to know about.

Bed bugs.

My husband and I stayed at Stella House for 3 nights and were generally satisfied with the accommodation. Breakfast is a joke - don't think that you'll be able to get away with not buying your own afterwards. The room we had was spacious and clean. However, the window didn't close fully which we didn't think too much of being the height of summer. Linen and a small towel is provided. The two bathrooms are fine, the water is hot but the pressure is next to nothing.

Now... the worst part: We awoke on our first morning absolutely covered in bites. Naively, we thought they were mosquito bites. Then we found the bugs. We did a little research and quickly discovered that what we'd seen were bed bugs. If you've had the good fortune not to have experienced the little buggers, you might think they'd be microscopic and that you wouldn't be able to identify them. Not so - they are about the size of a small ladybug, but flatter and brown (and bigger once they've got some of your blood!)

Two and a half weeks later, we are STILL scratching. The bites last for a long time and can leave scars from scratching. The itching is absolutely maddening and made much of the last fortnight unpleasant. We've had to buy reasonably expensive antihistimine gel for the bites. We also had to spend significant time washing ALL (and I mean ALL) of our clothing at very high temperatures and searching through our suitcases, shoes, souveneirs... EVERYTHING that we have with us so that we don't carry them with us. They are a pain, both literally and figuratively.

As I said, I'm sorry to have to write this review, but in the interests of keeping fellow travellers informed, it had to be done.
