“location location location just a stroll to the coleseum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2011

Great location just an easy stroll to the coleseum and other major sites.
Not a bad walk for younger people from the train station.
Nice area with many restaurants, good recommendations from the hotel staff as to where to eat. Felt like we were eating in restaurants that weren't just full of tourists.
The room was well appointed and had a modern style, very spacious.
Comfortable bed and nice bathroom.
The only down side of this hotel was a bad cigarette smoke smell came into the room in the mornings, believe it came through the vents. Stayed in room 11. Otherwise i can't say a bad word about our stay of 3 nights.

“THEFT ALERT! DO NOT STAY HERE”

We are a family of 4, we checked into Hotel Sunset Roma for 4 nights at the Suite on L1. On the day of the arrival, there was a confusion about our booking and no one was avaliable at the counter (we rarely see anybody at the counter through out our stay) - we had to stand at the lobby for 30 minutes before they sort it out. But that was just the beginning.

Our hotel room was broken into the last night of our stay. We lost 2 laptops, cash in our wallets ($2000) and my PASSPORT. The fishy part is that no doors or windows were broken. Hotel rooms use electronic access cards to go in, there are only 3 cards avaliable - we had 2 and the owner had the other one. We requested to see the survaliance camera video but was denied by the owner Andrea - as he claimed that the footage was stored with the survaliance company and he was not authorized to show it to us. We reported the case to local police and was told that there was NO video avaliable as the survaliance camera was BROKEN for awhile! After this happen, Andrea informed us that his hotel is fully booked for the next couple days so we are on our own - eventhough this took place in his hotel, eventhough we have no money, no passport - we are on our own.

I do not want to get into the details what happened afterwards. I just want to say this has been the worst experience I've ever had. Completely ruined my family vacatino and our memory of Rome. I would avoid this hotel at all cost. STAY AWAY!

We are terribly sorry, in ten years of our own this is the first time that it has been happened. Police Inspector confirmed our structure is situated in a very safe place in Rome. Police Patrol after to carry out investigations, has found to be guilty the new cleaning lady straight after removed from Sunset. However we are glad the Police found and got back the loot the day after the theft. We are very sorry about wrong news written on the reviewed: from Police Report dollars stolen were 1.200 not 2.000. The Clients got compensation from Sunset because we were not been payed for all the amount of their stay. From the day of their arrival Clients got a very considerable for reservation upgrade, because of our problem of extraordinary maintenance and the day of departure we found them a convenient accomodation for extra stay.

“Great location for site seeing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2010

We stayed here recently - the hotel wad in a great location. Safe area, clean, next to good places to eat, and 10 min to the colosseum and 15 min to the Trevi fountain.
The front desk person is only there when you check in, so make sure you ask all your questions and get his restaurant recommendations when you check in.
The rooms were a decent size, the tv has lots of English channels, and the bathroom was big and very clean. Make sure to bring your own shampoo ( was not a fan of theirs). The only negative of the room was that the beds were way to firm for me and the temp in the room was warm at night.
It was about $ 230/ night.... The most expensive of our Italy trip. But Rome is a bit more expensive in general.

“Great Hotel at a great price!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2010

This was the best hotel we encountered during our three week stay in Italy. Not only was it a great price, centrally located with extremely helpful staff but the room included amenities that travelers need- plenty of storage, very roomy, hangers, convenient light switches, plenty of air conditioning, etc. Check out the bulletin boards in the lobby with guest's raves.

“Sunset Hotel Roma - A Cheap but Excellent Place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2010

We chose Sunset hotel based on the reviews of Trip Advisor, we were not disappointed. This hotel is very clean and comfortable, in a good location and safe neighbourhood. Our room (triple) was larger than the usual European hotel room and was well equipped. The staff was most friendly and helpful and we were always greeted with a smile and a warm hello. The hotel doesn’t serve breakfast, but considering how many pizzerias and shops there are nearby , it’s not even an issue. We truly recommend it !!!
