NOTE: Our stay was in 2004 not 2011 as indicated above.
Why am I reviewing this establishment so many years after we stayed? I genuinely assumed that this place would have been closed down within months of us being there. Also I notice that there are more recent reviews that beggar belief. Judging by some of the high ratings, I can only assume they meant to leave a review on another hotel (Hotel Dina maybe?) and fear folk may be misled by them.
It is a task to know where to start.........
We were attracted to this place by the photos we had seen on the internet. It looked fabulous with antiques and gilded cornicing etc. Make no mistake, this place is a converted residential flat in a concrete 1950's building and nothing is actually as it seems in the photos. (cornicing is stick-on plastic type, for instance).
The place was dirty and downright dangerous. In our bedroom we were curious as to why there was a tea-towel nailed to the wall. On lifting it, it was obvious.... to hide the BARE electrical wires behind. Bare wires also in the shower!!
Our balcony sounded very grand. In reality it was a small veranda with plastic garden furniture and two bed headboards tied together with string separating it from the one next door. We would have had just enough to sit out there but there was a collection of disused wardrobes being stored there.
The literature proudly proclaims that the bedroom has a mini-bar. This is actually an old kitchen refrigerator with a garden gate type hasp to keep the door shut. Nothing inside, by the way.
Breakfast consisted of tea made from warm water from a thermos flask and stale biscuits.
.................. actually I am going to stop now as this is turning into a rant. Safe to say that this place is absolutely the worst place we have ever stayed in, by an enormous margin.
The only plus side was that it was so spectacularly bad that we actually found it funny after a while.
I am staggered that this place is still accepting bookings. Maybe, just maybe things have improved since and has been improved.... but I suspect not.
