pluses - great location, literally 1 minute walk from the trevi fountain so we were at the fountain one day at 7am and only a few people were there (quite a change!), tanya our hostess is very kind and friendly, free wifi in the room. also it did me good walking 3 stairs up and down every day ;) backpack is recommended. relatively cheap.

minuses - huge room but i'm not a big fan of full floor carpet, think it's kind of filthy, and the toilet in one of the rooms we stayed at smelled funny once you've used it... breakfast was pretty basic (croissants in plastic, yogurt, white bread, jam, cheese, coffee, juice) and there were only 6 seats at a time.

Friendly, welcoming , perfect location, central to everything.A/C in room a must in 40 degrees , room small but adequate, very clean, cheap for in the center of Rome. Forget the decor you are out most of the day.......

Read carefully - toilet en suite may mean toilet across the hall. Extremely difficult to find, as others have said. Greeted us despite how late we came, midnight or so. Breakfast was prepackaged, processed snacks. Stay for the location, not the accommodation.

Super location, right around the corner from the Trevi fountain. Only maybe a 5 min walk from the subway and buses, though the night we arrived, the subway line had closed early so we decided to walk to the hotel. Probably took about 20 minutes... just a little too long to walk with luggage but manageable if your bags are light. Room was 80 euros per night for a double with breakfast included. We are budget travelers and had a tough time finding cheap lodging in Italy so this seemed like a good price, though turns out we had booked a shared bathroom without realising it, hence the good price. Bathroom was shared with only one other room and was actually immaculate so in the end it was fine. Our room is best described as "cosy" - very clean and quaint but not a place you are going to spend any amount of time. It had one tiny window and was under the eaves so you could only stand up straight on one side of the room and couldn't actually see out the window - if you are tall or claustrophobic, make sure you request a room on the other floor of the hotel. :-) Breakfast was nothing special - packaged croissants, boxed cereal, coffee, and yogurts - served in the tiny kitchen by the very pleasant Danielle. The entrance to the hotel is not very well marked and we probably would have missed it if we didn't have the actual street number on hand - make sure you bring it with you! When you walk inside it's still unclear if you are in the right place - there is no reception and the B&B is on the top floors so just keep climbing the steps (no lift) until you find it! I'd say the price, central location and the cleanliness of the rooms are really what makes this B&B a good value for someone who just wants a home base from which to explore the city. (FYI - if you don't like the hotel's breakfast, the coffee shop below the hotel served a nice cheap coffee and pastry if you stand at the counter (sitting is more expensive); for a nice bite to eat in the neighborhood, check out Il Chianti).
