“Very clean and close to the train station”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

The best feature of this hotel is the location about 1/4 mile from the train station and a 8 euro taxi ride from the bus station. The price of 90 euros for a double with bath is a bargain. The room is very clean with no luxuries--a very small TV, a small desk, but we were happy with it. The breakfast is very low key; coffee is in carafes with bread and jam. The street is a little sketchy--we saw a number of homeless men who seemed harmless, but the surrounding streets have thriving businesses and restaurants.
This is not a full service hotel. You pay a euro for the lobby internet. If you need special services you may need to look elsewhere, but we would use this hotel again.

“Keep in mind that this is just an albergo”

After reading the reviews I thought this was going to be the perfect place to stay. A sister answered my mails in a very professional as well as warm way. She wrote: “you are welcome at our home” I felt really excited, feeling we were going to experience a new type of accommodation sharing our stay with some nuns. But all in all I felt a little bit disappointed. Although the 90 Euros were very good price, the area was dirty, full of homeless sleeping on the pavement, or young people living at the Vittorio Manuele III square. It was difficult to walk on the uneven streets, but there was a very good supermarket “Conan” at the corner which allowed us to get some cold drinks at a very convenient price. Termini is far away to walk and there is very little to see nearby.

The receptionist spoke no English or Spanish. She was from Rumania an in my opinion knew very little of Rome. We could get no information from all the questions we asked her. No! Sorry, she kindly asked for a taxi to go to the airport (37 Euros) which was great.

The room was huge, but not in the best taste, I didn´t find it as clean as described, there were full of fingerprints on walls and doors and stains even in the ceiling. It really needs to be repainted. The baby pink of walls, the saffron yellow of bedspreads and the pistachio green of the curtains are not precisely a symphony of color.

The breakfast was OK. There is no Wi-Fi but you can get a computer paying 2 Euros the hour and 20 cents every printed page.
But my biggest disappointment was that we never met a nun!

“Wonderful price and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

We stayed here for 5 nights in July, and were very happy with our stay! Our room was a comfortable size, although the single beds were quite narrow and I almost rolled out one night! The bedroom and bathroom were both immaculately clean, which made our stay that much more comfortable. The shower was the smallest shower I'd ever seen, and I actually had to shut the water off and open the door in order to be able to bend down to pick up my shampoo bottle when I dropped it!

There is a small elevator, which was wonderful to be able to get our bags to our room. Many hotels in Europe don't have elevators, and we did not want to have to lug our bags up two or three flights of stairs!

Breakfast was included, but it was quite sparse. On offer were bread, toast, jam, cereal with milk, pre-packaged muffins or croissants, and yogurt, as well as coffee or juice. It was enough to get us going in the morning, but by the fifth morning we were really craving a little protein with our breakfast.

The sisters that manage the hotel were lovely and very, very helpful. We enjoyed our interaction with them, and generally stopped to chat a bit each time we returned to pick up our room key. We arranged to have dinner in the dining room of the hotel twice during our stay, and found it to be very worthwhile. The meals were delicious!

The location of the hotel is really what sold it for us. It is quite close to the Colosseum, and the metro stop was only 2 blocks away. (The metro line that the hotel is nearest to is the one that goes to the Vatican, so it is very easy to get there... just be sure to buy your tickets to the Vatican ahead of time on their website... the lineups are hours long!) There are a number of wonderful little restaurants within about a 3 or 4 block radius of the hotel, and we were thrilled to find a laundromat (Onda Blu) about 2 blocks away as well! We were able to drop our laundry off and pick it up again (folded!) for only 9 Eur per load! We did laundry twice while we were there, just to have all clean clothes before we left the city.

There are a few little shops nearby, including a bakery that was amazing, and a liquor store that was so inexpensive it was hard to believe! There was also a little grocery store less than a block away, as well as a number of small convenience stores.

All in all, we loved our stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone that is travelling on a bit of a budget and is looking for a clean, friendly, convenient place to stay. Enjoy your visit to Roma!

“Great price, great location, great value...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

If you want to have a hassle free trip while in Roma, one of the key ingredients is to stay in a hassle-free hotel and I know just the place - Albergo Giusti. With a price of only 90 Euros per night for a spacious room with 2 beds and a light breakfast before you start your day, you can't get much better! The money we saved staying here was better spent sight seeing and enjoying tasty Italian food...

The staff (i.e. the nuns) were extremely easy to get along with and very knowledgeable. They ran the hotel just like any other hotel - they have maps at the front desk, someone working 24 hours a day and can easily answer any tourist questions that you may have. In addition, they do wake up calls and will order a taxi for you. They are extremely easy-going any willing to lend a helping hand...

The location is phenomenal as it is literally only a 10 minute walk to the closest metro station. The central metro station is only a 30 minute walk and if you're feeling ambitious, the Colesseum isn't too far away by foot either. If you're hungry, there's a grocery store across the street and a decent selection of restaurants around the neighborhood.

Obviously, with such a good price there are some pitfalls to the place. For example, the toiletries are limited and poor quality so you're better off bringing your own (e.g. soap, shampoo & conditioner). In addition, the air conditioner was old and didn't work too well and my television didn't work (but this wasn't a big deal as we were travelling Rome for most of the day). Finally, don't expect much from the beds...they're not fluffy clouds of goodness like you get at the Hilton...

However, despite the cons that this place may have, don't let that deter you from staying here. As I said before, the unbeatable price is reason alone to book your reservation right now...

Overall, Albergo Giusti is amazing for the price you pay. With its super-convenient location, even the most amateur traveller will be minutes away from the Colisseum, Spanish Steps or even the Vatican City...

Happy Travels!

“Don't judge an albergo by its facade.”

This hotel is very plain and on a street that has little to recommend it, BUT, if you are on a budget it has friendly staff, good breakfast and clean and spacious rooms.
Other good points...close to some nice neighborhood restaurants, two blocks from the Metro and within walking distance to Saint Mary Major and the Train Station.
I personally loved it.
