“Rude Staff, Basic Room”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

We were originally scheduled to stay at his hotel for 3 nights. We left after the first night. After attempting to use the elevator/lift, we discovered that a key was needed and we were told by the person at the desk that we were not allowed to use it. This hotel is in a building with various other entities. We inquired about internet and were told that there is NO INTERNET in this hotel. The air conditioning was an extra 13 Euro, it was still warm and we needed it to sleep because the street was very noisy and leaving the window open was not an option. We complained and were not charged for the air conditioning. Everyone except the young lady that brought us coffee was very rude. Breakfast was the basic roll and croissant. We accidently sat down at a table set for 3 and were yelled at by one of the staff/owners. There was noise most of the night, it sounded like someone was pounding or dropping barbells on the floor.
After staying in the Florence and Pisa area for a week and being warmly received everywhere we have visited, this hotel leaves a very bad impression. I can not recommend it and would not ever stay here again.

Room Tip: Do not stay at this hotel.

“Lied about Air Conditioning”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2010

I signed up for this hotel on venere.com and it was not made clear when making the reservation that I had to indicate I wanted air conditioning. We showed up only to find out that there was no air conditioning in our room and it was 35 degrees outside. I went to the desk and when they explained that we had to request it (I checked the website and it was not clearly an option to do so) I asked if they had one available and offered to pay if there was a price difference. They said there was not. So I went to book another hotel. When I went to check out, they said they did have a room available with air conditioning, and I got very upset that the same person said there was not one only 30 minutes before. The room had a squeaky bed, no safe and looked run down. The area also made me uncomfortable. I have stayed in two other extremely nice hotels in Rome on this trip that were a similar price but offered so much more. In their defence they did not charge us for cancelling, but that was only after I got so upset and said I was going to write them up. They blocked me from writing a review on venere where I booked.

“clean and good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2008

We booked the hotel for a special occasion and was suprised by the size of the room, small but in Rome you dont spend all day in there. The furniture was well used but the beds were comfortable (and I am a big guy) and everything was spotless. The bathroom was small but new and again clean. The stairs could be a problem for some but not if you are able to walk around Rome all day. Rome is a large city and the hotel is not in the best area but we felt safe and shops and resturants are good in the local area. It is a great location for just walking around Rome but also the Metro is close also the Terminni is just a short walk. On reflection the hotel is great for a long week end break and the breakfast is ample to get you going in the morning. Thanks to the whole family who put up with our poor attempts at Italian and late arrival on the Friday. Just remember you get what you pay for and you will like this hotel. It is 2 * for 2* money so do not expect 5* hotel.

“excellent value for a 2 star hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2007

This hotel is excellent value for a 2 star hotel, it is very clean . The room was well decorated, the furniture of good quality. the bathroom was excellent and there was hot water whenever we needed it ,we had maid service every day. Breakfast was basic but adequate and the coffee was good . The staff were very friendly and helpful . It is certainly very close to everything and we would certainly stay there again . Reception is on the second floor of the building and it certainly wouldn't suit anyone who had problems climbing stairs but as far as we can see this was its only down side.

“Very Basic but Clean.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2007

This hotel is great if your young but for the older person it's not ideal. Hotel Reception is 2 storeys up, our room on the 5th floor. Lift can only be used when accompanied by the manager. When he wasn't avaliable, my mother had to either struggle up or wait for him. Asked for twin room, got double. The walls are paper thin. Many rowdy teenagers on our floor making noise until very late - Luckily a 24 hour chemist is directly opposite to get earplugs from. Location is ideal, minutes from Colosseum, Train/metro Station and many other places of interest. Local area is rundown but we, as two single females, walked around the streets late and felt perfectly safe. Staff were pleasant and breakfast was adequate. Served until 10 am. Rooms were very basic but clean, bathroom was lovely.
