“Would stay again”

We got a shuttle from the airport. 50 euros. The train to Cornelia then bus or taxi would have been much cheaper. Bus leaves for the metro just opp. the hotel 1 euro for 75 mins. Great value. We walked to Cornelia a few times. Not the prettiest suburb but nice and quiet. Enjoyed the hotel. Room lovely. Breakfast very good. Staff friendly and helpful. Only ate once at the hotel but that was also very good. Laundromat just down the hill but closed weekends. No problem with getting into Rome. On the Vatican line. Mini bar no problem for as as we don't drink. It was our first trip to Italy and we were very satisfied.

“A very poor hotel - Heating broken, bed broken, robbed by room maid, etc ...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2010

Run away from this hotel ...
The central heating regulation is broken. We had 28C in the room during the 3 nights we stayed. I called the reception to get if fixed. They told me to wait 5 min they would call me back. They did call me back saying they found a solution: "open the window" ;-) Great ! Then I realized that most of the windows were open. The central heating regulation is broken in all rooms !
My bed was broken as well. A big hole in the middle. Like if an elephant, or maybe 2, sat for 1 week in the middle of it. Well, then I had to sleep in my wife's arms in her bed, which is not bad at all afterwards !
We wanted to try the swimming pool. Looking at their website it looks nice ... and free .... You have to pay 20 Euros ... per person ... for 30 min ... Well we did not use it for such a price !
We booked the hotel nights with vouchers we bought at "daydreams". On top of the vouchers, the hotel asked us to pay 100 Euros by night for breakfast and dinner. We thought for that price we get a nice dinner ..... No way. They don't give you the menu card. You get a standard meal with no choice: pasta as appetizer and then 4 tinny slices of cold roastbeef. With salad. With no dressing. You have to ask for oil and vinegar. Luckyly you don't pay for it. But you pay extra for the water. The 100 Euros beautiful dinner does not include beverage.
And last but not least, when we arrived at home we realized that they stole us the nice presents we bought for our friends while they were cleaning the room ....
And by the way, when you ask for a taxi at the reception, they will propose you their shuttle at a fixed price of 55 Euros to go to the airport. Refuse it. A taxi to the airport costs around 40 Euros (taxi station in front of the hotel).
For Wifi, you have to pay extra as well.

“A nice hotel, fully satisfied.”

I read reviews on this hotel when I was booking a room to stay in Rome, and the other people's opinions made me uncertain about my choice. However my impression about the hotel is very good: clean room, good service, helpful personnel. The location of the hotel isn't perfect (you have to walk to the metro station for about half of an hour), but there is a bus station right next to the hotel. Anyways, the hotel neighborhood is nice and green and it was a pleasure for us just to walk our way to the metro each time.
All the standard hotel services were good and we had no problems with them: wonderful breakfast, free internet service, laundry service, shuttle service to Fumiccino airport. The reception desk had always somebody speaking English, and they were always friendly, polite and eager to answer all our questions any time of the day or night.

“Excellent Stay - 4 Days in Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

My wife and I use trip advisor to review all our hotels prior to booking however never commented on any of the hotels we have booked, but felt the need to do so for this hotel due to its mixed reviews mostly from 2008-2009.

We stayed as The Golden Tulip for 3nights/4 days paying £250 through expedia for bed & breakfast.

Pro's...

Excellent sized room, clean and tidy, with LCD t.v, touser press, FREE safe, air conditioning(contact reception to have switched on),large marble tiled bathroom with power shower and hairdryer.

Hotel is good size, clean & modern with 6 floors, good sized swimming pool with terraced area, restaurant, bar, Gym (excellent -Technogym equipment), sauna & jacuzzi and shuttle bus. Breakfast - No issues as previous reviews highlight otherwise, clean and no waiting. Choice of fruit, breads, cheese& meats, cereal, juices, yoghurt, cakes, tea and coffee. Only hot food was scrambled egg. Check in 1200.

Nearby - Supermarket, 2 Restaurants, Pharmacy,Bus Terminal, Couple of takeaway stalls.

Centre of Rome is really easy to get to from hotel and we cannot understand the negative feedback re location. To be honest we both loved getting out the hustle and bustle and noise of the city after walking around all day. You can get to Rome tourist spots using the metro from either Battistini or Cornelia Stations and get off at either the vatican city, spanish steps etc and it only takes 6-7 minutes. You can get to Battistini or Cornelia station using either bus 546 or 889 both from bus terminal outside hotel. The bus service is every 5 minutes, and finishes at 0000. The metro is every 2 minutes. If walking from metro you can get to hotel in 15minutes on a relatively straight forward route from Battistini metro stop. Despite the grafiti(throughout whole city) the area was safe to walk at night. You can get a 3 day tourist pass that covers buses and tube for 11euro's each person buying it from metro station. You walk on and off the bus and we never showed the ticket once. Public transport was great and we never had to use taxis or open top bus due to its good service.

There was also storage available for cases, and showers in the gym to feshen up prior to late flight.

Negatives - There are only a few but if changed would have made this hotel great.
Sauna & Jacuzzi - Can only be booked as "Romantic Moments" charged at 20euro's per person for 30minutes!

Swimming pool - You must have a swimming cap, and own towel(not room towels), otherwise hotel will sell a cap and rent towels.

Minibar- Well overpriced. a can of diet coke is 4Euro's, but you can buy one across the road from stall at 1.50euro.

From Champiano airport you can get several allocated buses to Rome Railway Station (TERMINI), including teravision at 4euro's each. Be aware in peak traffic(like when we arrived at 9am) it can take 1hour 20minutes plus 20 minute wait in queue at bus terminal.

We found the best way to get the public transport bus at 1.20euro each from the airport to Anagnina (first train station on metro line A) which takes 15minutes by bus.

Then board tube at Anagnina and get off at either TERMINI(15minutes)or stay on tube all the way to Hotel, Battistini(approx25-30 minutes from angina). Check out this map;

Would recommend this hotel.

“Excellent hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2010

I have just arrived back from Rome and wanted to write a review as some of the other reviews for this hotel are not so good. When we arrived in Rome Terminal the hotel had emailed me instructions to get to the hotel...we found the instructions very easy and within 15-20 minutes we were at the hotel...We found the hotel staff extremely helpful and friendly, the rooms were extremely clean and a good size...as this hotel is on the outskirts it is very quiet...the pool area is clean and is a relaxing area to chill out...we did not use the hotel restaurant so i cannot comment on this. There is a nearby pizza takeaway within walking distance but if you are looking for a nearby restaurant take the 889 bus (over the road from the hotel) to Cornelia (5 minutes) where there is a little more choice. We found the easiest and quickest route into Rome centre is the 889 bus to Cornelia and then the Metro to whichever attraction you would like to see. The journey never took us more than 15 minutes. The Metro is very easy to use as there are only 2 lines. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit Rome who does not want the noise and hustle of the city itself. Very happy :)
