I stayed at the Hotel Lux as the leader of a group of students from the US. I have traveled to Europe many times, both on my own and with students, so I feel I know what to expect from a three star European hotel. This one was well below par. The shower was broken and grungy looking. The beds were acceptable but the sheets were quite rough. The breakfast was terrible: poor coffee, hard, stale bread, fruit that was past its prime...etc. Worst of all was the noise level. Each time a door opened and shut the walls would shake. When in the lobby, the sound echoed from above as it would in a busy indoor pool. Unlike other posters, I didn't mind the neighborhood. I am sure you can do better than this.

i didn't expect much from a 3 star european hotel, we were just concidered about if it's clean or not. Its location is important than the other stuff. And its 10 min. far from the city center and I can say it's clean. We stayed there 3 days. Everyday we found the room clean, bed was done, new soaps in the bathroom when we back to the room... Breakfast was also better than i imagined. There were cakes, turtas and fruit juice beside butter, jam, cheese or ham. Some staff were helpful and kind, some of them didn't . One night the receptionist has locked the hotels main door and was sleeping when we return to the hotel at 3 a.m. :) At last i can recommend it to the people who looks for basic standards and don't want to lose time at the hotel.

We were here at the end of october. Our experience is very good. The room was tiny, but clean, and comfortable, cleaning was every day. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect, Termini Railway Station, and Castro Pretorio metro station are walking distance, from there you can go to every important place of Rome. The hotel's area seems safe, next to hotel there are embassies, and other offices. We offer this hotel to everyone. ( For Hungarian tourists: the woman receptionist speaks hungarian a little!!) We have stayed 3 nights at the Lux in October 2008. We didn't like our experience at all. The hotel area is not very nice, it is also too far from the city center. The room was small, not very clean and the noise from other rooms or from the stairs and front office was extremely disturbing. We had to start the fan from the room air condition system (not really working!) to cover the noise in order to sleep. The breakfest was not good and the facility cleanliness was questionnable. We were told by our travel agency that we could have breakfest outside on a terrasse. Forget about the terasse, you don't want to eat there. In the same price brackets, you can find better hotels in Rome.
