“Very nice.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2010

I stayed in three hotels during my stay in Rome recently and Romano was my favorite. For the price the location was excellent. The rooms were very clean and the staff friendly. I had a room on Cavour, a big street, but it was not noisy at all, airy in fact. The location is excellent; up the block from the Colloseo metro, on the corner of the Forum itself. Walking distance to pretty much everything. I will go back there when I bring my kids in a couple of years.

“The hotel Romano is great!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 June 2010

I thoroughly enjoyed my short stay in the Hotel Romano and hope to return sooner rather than later. The first person I met was the lovely gentleman, Santo, at reception who was so kind and welcoming, My room was spacious and overlooked a busy little street with lots of bars and restaurants. The bathroom was clean and had plenty of soft white towels. It could be a bit noisy, but once you pulled the shutters, even an afternoon siesta was possible. The Romano is in a wonderful location - right beside the Forum and the Colesseum and walking distance from all you want to see in Rome. In the morning you get a token to have breakfast from the little café next door. It was fine, though a man might need a slightly bigger breakfast. I heartily recommend the Romano and thought it wonderful value for money. My thanks to all there for making my stay so enjoyable.

“Charmless and overpriced”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2010

The only thing going for this hotel is its central location. Otherwise, this is a small and dark hotel, with cheerless and dark rooms that are more than a little worn at the edges. The staff are not friendly, and every interaction with the hotel, from booking to payment was made complicated. Given all of this, the prices charged make this a very poor value hotel.

“Extremely poor value for money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 May 2010

We stayed 3 nights here and I knew the price of this hotel when I booked it, but I did not realise just how little I got for my money. Room only, well almost.! as the included breakfast was very small indeed (packet of melba toast with butter & jam coffee, fruit juice and pastry) from the snack bar next door (it took less than 5 mins to consume). We were'nt offered Tea / Coffee on arrival as we had to wait until the room was cleaned (at 2.30pm) & there was'nt even facilities (for tea / coffee) in the room.

There is no wireless internet, lounge, bar or resturant here and when we asked for a good place to dine we were pointed in the direction of the place next door. (tourist trap)

There appears to have been street works going on right outside recently so the ground was a bit rough.

The area is very touristy and can be noisy, but this hotel is within walking distance from every attraction within Rome (especially the Collosseum and Forum), Though we did take the bus to the Vatican. We did walk back that evening (and back to the Vatican the next day approx 40 min walk) every other attraction is no more than 30 min walk at the most.

The room was clean though housekeeping did not change out towels throughout our three night stay.

The staff were helpful and courtious towards us, but in the future I think I will be forking out the extra dough and moving up a couple of stars.

There probably is better value accommodation in Rome and if I were going back I would look elsewhere before booking Hotel Romano again.

“Great little hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 April 2010

This is a great little hotel. The room was small (consistent with European single) but was extremely well kept and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The area was very convienant to the Coliseum, Forum and the Victor Emanual. Pretty good cafe and restaurants very close by. Strongly recommend.
