“wonderful stay”

had a wonderful time for 3 nights, had come with riviera group travel. The hotel is pretty modern and breakfast is super. The reception people were very friendly and helpful and gave me some good suggestions.
The best gem was Burro & Sago a cosy typically traditonal italian restaurant with fixed price menu which was really cheap. Quality and quantity were both amazing and I recommend every traveller to visit.

“Nice stay”

We were at this hotel as part of a tour. The hotel was in our view excellent. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. The room temperature can be controlled from the reception desk if you are too hot or cold. We didn't use the bar or the restaurant and therefore have no comment. The area is residential but not as sometimes stated shabby. Nor is it in any way sinister. The breakfast was fine, but with Nescafé from a machine supposedly Americano. British tourists really must get over this issue with tea. Why in the world should Italian hotels take us as their norm? The nearby restaurant Da Michele is excellent quality and, as one might expect from a smart place, not cheap, although the wine list is not at all pricey and offers some good bargains. We never ate at the pizzeria but by all accounts it was fine for the price. The metro is indeed 10-15 minutes from the hotel and gets into Rome quite quickly. The Colosseo stop is a little to the east, but Rome's centre is not big. The 'uphill' walk on the way back is very far from arduous and is not to our knowledge prone to extreme criminality. Should the hotel or the tour company have insisted on the district being flattened out? The 715 bus is convenient but not quick. It does after all serve local people who have the right to exist. Other buses in the centre can take you to the north end of the Corso. You just have to sus the system as in all major cities. If you want to stay in the centre, either you will have a less good hotel, or you will pay a lot more. So get real.

“A good base”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

I stayed here 3 nights with a tour group and think this hotel was absolutely fine, no complaints.

The hotel is a little bit out of Rome in a residential area but with easy access into the centre. There is a bus stop just outside the hotel or a Metro station 10-15 mins walk from the hotel. Often I just took my time walking to the station as there were shops and department stores on the way.
Location wasn't a problem, if we had been staying at a hotel nearer the centre the cost would have been considerably more!!

The hotel was modern and clean. I cannot fault our room. We were towards the back of the hotel overlooking apartments and the church nearby...the church was so close we could hear the organ playing at mass. We had a spacious balcony; it would have been nice to had some chairs to sit out on.

We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant in the evening but rather went to the nearby 'Michele's'. Good restaurant (although limited choice for vegetarians). Note that you may have to pre book here especially if there are a couple of tour groups at the hotel.

Breakfast was fine, lots of choice. The usual- cereals, yoghurts, pastries/cakes, scrambled egg, bacon. Tea/coffee, juice. Sometimes you have to wait a couple of minutes for the staff to replenish but it wasn't a problem.

All in all a really good hotel, I would stay here again and recommend to friends. For us it was a good experience!

“Poor service for high price”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2011

This hotel is highly overpriced. They give you the impression to be a high-class bussines hotel but there is a lot wrong, specialy if you are in Rome for work.
- The WiFi signal was strong, but the internet connection dropped very frequently (default gateway that also served als DHCP and DNS server unreachable).
- The breakfast doesn't have many options to choose. The scrambled eggs were made in the early morning and not refilled with the result that, if you come at 8AM, the eggs were dry or finished. No normal orange juice (3 other juices were present).
- The fitness center (that supossed to be part of the hotel) is a public gym around the corner where hotel guest can get in for free.
- The restaurant (again separate entrance so you have to go outside to go to the restaurant) only offered a complete menu for the first days. We asked if it was posible just to get a main dish and they answered us that this was posible but they would still charge the total menu price.
- The bar is in the breakfast room. No lounge seats or bar chairs, you have to sit on the breakfast tables.
-`There are not enough orientation signals in the hotel to guide you to these "extra-places", which gives the impression of being lost there.
- The staff in the reception, bar, breakfast and the restaurant didn't seem to have a good day every day (we stayed for 7 nights...)

Dear Guest,
We are really sorry that our hotel has not met your expectations.

We took note of your complaints, and from now on we are glad to inform you and the other guests that:

- We changed ISP and from now we can offer a better wi-fi service;
- During your stay the direct entrance for the Fitness centre was out of order. I apologize for that, and I can assure you that the works are finished: now you can reach the fitness centre directly by Elevator (floor “-1”)
- On September 2011 we’ll open the new restaurant, located in the lobby level, in order to avoid any extra-places.
- Thanks to this renew you will no longer have to take the complete menu for your dinner.

As you can see we pay close attention to the suggestions of our guest: thanks to your recommendations we changed some things and we are sure that your next stay with us will be better.

Sincerely,
Oly Hotel Staff

“Excellent quality base in Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 April 2011

We stayed for 3 nights as part of a package tour with Riviera Travel.

An excellent hotel in all repects, modern, clean, comfortable, great staff and very well appointed rooms. The location is a shabby residential area but you are close to a bus and metro station and plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Be warned that the walk back in the dark from the metro is not well lit and you will walk quickly!

The reception area is modern and spacious and the staff are very helpful and all seem to speak English. The dining area is also comfortable and modern, the breakfast was plentiful and varied too. My only criticism is that being in Italy tea making facilities are poor with tea bag and water being on one side, milk being on the other and sugar on your table. Why do they not understand tea pots? We did not have an evening meal because it was expensive but others in our party did and were very pleased.

Rooms are excellent, quality furniture and fittings, good bathrooms with ceramic bath and excellent shower. Well lit, large mirrors too. Large comfortable bed, air conditioning, fridge with complimentary water, sweets every day, tv with English channels and deep carpets. I did not want to leave!

Staff, especially on reception, were really helpful and friendly. Taxis are available in minutes and info is provided on bus and metro times too.

The local area is very inner city, jammed with parked vehicles and rubbish strewn everywhere, scary at night but I guess this is Italy! There are two restaurants nearby of note; Michelles which is classy, quality Italian withh good food and wine with a price to match, or Pasta and Pommodora which is a locals Pizzeria with fixed price menus and you are guarateed not to leave hungry. Both less than 5 minutes well lit walk away.

So on the whole a great hotel and I reccomend it. Less than 30 mins drive from Fiumicino Airport too. All the facilities you could need. There is an nearby fitness centre with pool but not attached to the hotel.
