“Great value but...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 March 2011

good: service, value, cleanliness, location

downsides:
if your room is on the second floor you don't get wifi
the reception is on the second floor and you have to leave your key so if your room is on the first floor it's annoying to go up to get the key and have to go back down
breakfast was very limited but espresso made to order
this may have been specific to our stay but we could hear our neighbours the entire night and early morning

“Hotel Ascot is an inexpensive, peacefull, convienient place to stay in Rome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 November 2010

Dear Travellers, I stayed here for four nights from 10th to 14th November 2010.
At first it is decieving when you look at the front door, but when you get inside and take the elevator to the floor on which the hotel is located you will feel more reassuring that you made the right decision. We resided in room number 25.Its the best room in the hotel since its close to the reception and breakfast area. Internet speed was super fast and we slept well but I think that was mostly because we we so tired from all the walking tours that we had been doing during our 4 days in Rome. The room faces a street so there could be a lot of traffic in the morning honking and also somedays there is a hawkers market but if you are a person who has well planned your itenary for the day then you would probably get up early and run out of the hotel to catch the train and find the meeting point from where your walking tour actually begins.Breakfast is italian, which include Croissants and cappucino.if you like there are also some other items like tea, cheese, jam, fruit yougurts, toast etc..The hotel is located walking distance to Roma termini, just make sure you have travel bags withe wheels so you can pull it across the road. Also there is a store right across the hotel where you can buy some daily groceries or even some wine and beer. There is also a restaurant across called Baboos that serves italian food. The only problem we had was that the shower in the bathroom did not have a good spray and the water fluctuated from hot to cold ubruptly, but we managed just fine... The Bathroom is very nice and bigger than other bathrooms in other italian hotels, but the shower area is very small which is also like other italian hotels.

Overall a really nice place to stay for a short time.

Thanks Hotel Ascott and keep up the good work!!!

“Good Choice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2010

Stayed at Ascot from Sept 24-Sept 28 and had no complaints. There were 4 friends staying here and we had our own clean private room/bath.

The breakfast was good, coffee, fresh buns (yum), butter, variety of jams/marmalades, nutella, juice, yogurt, milk, cereal.

The location was literally 5 min walk to termini. The area was safe at night we had to fear coming back after midnite.

There is a restaurant at the corner right by Ascot called Babu's, fantastic food, ate there a few times.

We would stay here in the future.

“great location, safe, friendly staff, clean and classy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2010

i think this hotel is a family run hotel. and the owner try their best to accomodate us, 24 hour staff (no curfew) but i was annoyed by one of the staff who asking me about why am i going out at 12midnight, what time i will be comeback coz he is watching people come in and out... funny.

Yes, you want to taking care of your guest, but dont be like a jail warden because i'am in hotel not in jail.

But, its recommended to you to stay here because the place is clean, classy, huge room for two, clean and cosy toilet and great coffee!!! and antique elevator..... so nice. My room number was 28 and situated infront of the computer and wifi router... i love that room.

“great value for not too long stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2010

Rome is expensive, so for this price the hotel is perfect ;)
Great location if you want to visit Rome for couple of days and don't waste time for getting to the centre by public communication.
Rooms are very small and have thin walls but they are clean and air-conditioned. There is even wi-fi internet included in the price. Breakfast is ok - some breadrolls, jam, yoghurts, juice and coffee/tea. It's enough for the hot mornings.
Staff is friendly and helpful.
