“Ok!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 May 2007

A very nice and tipical italian hotel! 2 floors of a residential building. Very clean! Spacious bathroom with bath-tub and shower and bidet. Very good location - a bus stop in front of the hotel, 7-8 min. walking to Piazza della Republica (with U-Station) and the same distance to Termini Station (Central Railway Station). Helpful staff, basic breakfast - coffee, tea, bread, croissant, cheese, youghurt. I definitely recommend the hotel!
P.S. To all the american and disappointed guys: this is it - ITALIA - noisy, hurried, cramped... but for 2* hotel it is more than expected!!! If you want something else - pay EUR 200,- for a double room per night and stay away from downtown ;)

“Clean, but noisy inside”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2007

A clean room (137). Bathroom big enough (shower in bathtub). Close to two metro stations. We had the room above the entrance (first floor). The windows were well isolated (2 windows), so we could not hear the market. The first morning was a surprise: walking out the door and suddenly see a market. Inside you could hear everything. We didn't sleep well because of slamming doors, toilet flushing, loud voices, et cetera. Maybe we just had bad luck. Breakfast was a joke. For 8 euros a person you can chose between a (not too fresh) croissant and hard white bread. There is some yoghurt, orange juice, coffee, tea. We only had breakfast once. Location is fine, near Termini, metro, and busses. Across the street there is a small supermarket with cold drinks.

“A small disappointment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 April 2007

2* 5 mins walk from Termini, 20 m down Via Montebello from Via Volturno. Stairs or lift 2 floors up to reception. Vicinity to Volturno gave noisy nights if window open. Definitely not a soft bed, resulted in partly sleepless nights. Room 229 was clean (did not check top of clothes locker) with a shelf, a double bed, a small writing desk halfway occopied by a small TV set, one chair to go with this. A/C centrally operated, high up under the ceiling. Breakfast standard continental juice, milk, youghurt, coffe / tea, croissant, bread, butter, jam, honey + +
Reception staff friendly, helpful, accomodative.
3 mins walk to La Famiglia, popular ristorante for tourists and locals, not expensive, 5 mins to Pizzeria da Dinos in Via dei Mille, close to Piazza Indipenza

“A fine 2 star option!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 April 2007

The Ascot is short, convenient 5 minute walk from Rome's Central Termini Railstation. The Ascot is located in a corner building which can generate some street noise should you be located in a street facing room. There is an elevator in the building and someone is at the reception desk 24/7.

I booked a double room (#25) for single use as I dislike sleeping on a narrow twin bed. The room was clean and the bathroom was spotless. While the bathroom was narrow, it was long, about the width of the room, and included an enclosed shower stall, toilet, bidet and sink. A hairdryer was provided. Not lit enough for a woman to do her evening makeup, but enough for me to shave.

The room included a double king size bed, 2 bedstands, a work desk and a wardrobe. The tv was tiny, about a 7 inch screen. Air conditioning was present, but not needed or used. Room rates include continental breakfast.

The staff was pleasant and helpful. English was spoken.
