“One to miss”

Our friend booked this hotel and it looked good on the web. It was on the wrong side of the train station in a very rundown area. The rooms were small and ours had dirty walls. Plumbing was excentric and there was mould on the ceiling. Spent as little time in the room as possible and would have left if we had booked it.

  • Liked — proximity to railway station
  • Disliked — everything else
  • Tips/Secrets — suspect anything in europe under three star unless you know someone who has been there

“wouldn't recommend this hotel...”

As another reviewer, we were also transferred to the (in)famous Hotel Bianca which is a really poor place compared to the rooms in Meridiana.
They had the cheek to tell us the shower was broken in the rooms and nobody could stay there the first night we arrived. I immediately asked for a discount which was just laughed at!! In the end they gave us 10 EUR...
Despite the showers not having worked the next morning our room was miracoulosly not ready yet and when I mentioned this they offered again the room without water! I'm sure there was no room without water at all.

The room appeared to be nice once we could finally move into it but painfully small.

Breakfast delivered to the room?? Well, we were taken to a small bar in the next street where we received our croissant and the worst cappuccino I had in Rome.

On top of that I couldn't leave my luggage there until 6 in the afternoon because the guy who was at the reception only worked until 4pm!!
And as someone else also mentioned credit card was not accepted so in the end we had to bring some cash.

Rome is a lovely city but if you get treated like this at your accommodation (which by the way is one of the most expensive in Europe - I mean where else do you get a room at a 2-star hotel for 130 EUR???) it can really give you some headaches...

I don't know about other hotels from this range in Rome but I definitely wouldn't recommend this one to anyone.

“They changed our hotel rooms without informing us - poor service!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2005

We stayed there for 4 nights on the 24-25 and 29-30 of June 2005. The first 2 nights were reasonable - the rooms were new and decent, althought it was located at the deadend of a street.

What really pissed us off was the fact that when we arrived on the 29, we were informed when we got there that as the hotel was full, they were placing us at hotel bianca instead, also another 2 star hotel but in a terrible state. construction was going on in that hotel, plus it was very very old!!! this totally spoilt out trip! and i am sure this was not the first time they did so. what is irritating is that we booked it via hostelworld, which would obviously state that the 4 -person room was available at that time, hence that was no valid reason why we were switched!!

do not let this happen to you, DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL!

“Close to Termini”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 May 2005

Located at the end of a dead-end street packed with hotels, you need to walk up to the second floor to find the reception. Good location, 7-8 minutes walk from Termini train station and good value. We paid 100 euros for a double room over Easter. However the room was really small and we were right next to the reception and so it wasn't the quietest room. Reception staff were not too friendly, we didn't feel welcome when we had question on the city or public transportation. "Breakfast" (fatty croissant, coffee + orange juice) is delivered to your room at the requested time. Overall the place was ok, ideal for tight budgets.

“Excellent value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2005

A gem of a hotel, in a perfect location. The fronts desk staff were friendly and accommodating, although their English was not perfect.

Breakfast was simple (a croissant and a cup of tea, with small glass of orange juice) and was delivered to the door. The view of the breakfast room which appears on the internet is ficticious.

Credit cards are NOT ACCEPTED at this hotel, even though the websites say that they are. Make sure you have access to cash. I was told the night before we were due to leave and had a mad panic to get to an ATM.

Overall, an excellent, clean, recently refusrbished place to stay, with superb access to all the major sights in Rome.
