“Great Location - Great Room”

We had originally booked at Madison Hotel on Via Marsala, which is a very noisy street. However, upon our arrival, the concierge suggested that they upgrade our room to a room in this hotel which is also owned by the same chain of hotels. We could choose and we agreed to have this upgrade.

This was indeed an upgrade: our room was very big (for Rome at least it was), spotlessly clean with an LCD television and a huge bathroom, complete with hydromassage shower. It was undoubtedly a great room and we were very happy with the room.

Breakfast was OK - served in the room on the first day but not on the second. When we enquired why, we were told that we hadn't advised the hotel what we would be having (as we had done on the first night) which was true. However, nobody had told us that we would need to fill in the breakfast form every night. Anyway, since we had a friend picking us up at the hotel, we skipped breakfast at the hotel and had a great breakfast at a bar nearby.

I would definitely stay again at this hotel since we found it to be very good value for money and a stone's throw away from Termini Station and the metropolitana. Besides, notwithstanding being so close to the station, it was an extremely quiet area.

We would definitely stay again at this hotel.

I found out before departure that this hotel has an annex and so i checked at lease 3 times before departure that we were in main entrance of hotel and was assured we were, when we arrived surprise surprise we had to walk round to the next street to get to our room! the room we were given was rather nice so we let it go and didnt bother to waste time complaining.
on our second day after buying 5 items of clothing while out shopping which we put in a cupboard in the room - still in the bags we were given wen we purchased the stuff the bag went missing!!!
The hotel did not want to know and for the next two days it was the worst experience i have ever had staying at any hotel. Eventually a maid said she had seen the bag with the items b ut that they were in the bin and so she took them and through them out. I have never heard anything so ridiculous! The Management were of no help and i had to go to the police and report all this. nothing was done about the staff and 2months later i am still having to deal with this. i would never go to the hotel again as i would be worried about my belongings if hotels allow this to go on and end up making the guest out to be in the wrong!!!

“Sent To Cheaper Room (they kept the difference)”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2007

I booked and paid for a room at 139 euro x three days (used WOTIF)

When I arrived they sent me to another hotel a Km away saying it was 4 star but I didn't need to pay more

According to the subsitute hotel's website my room was 110 euro

So they made a 87 euro profit so far

I met with the Galles Night Manager who said they would sort this out (I got this in writing)

But a week later they haven't

I'll report further about this matter

  • Liked — Never saw a room :sent elsewhere
  • Disliked — Getting less than I paid for

“Good value”

I stayed with my family of four in Eastern Week and we enjoyed Rome from this hotel. The quadruple bedroom was very large and it was separated in two floors. The room is a bit dark, some more lights are required. The only problem was that the first day we found that there was some dust on the furniture but we told to the recepcionist and they cleaned better the next days.
The breakfast was normal except the orange juice which was terrible.

Although The Prince of Galles is not close to the touristic places it is quite convenient as it is 10 minutes walking from Termini Station and also there is a tube station very near.

Taking into account that Hotels in Rome are terrible expensive, the relation quality/price is quite convenient although I would expect something better for 210 Eur per night. (family room).

“Facilities and Service do not justify the price.”

The Prince Galles was somewhat removed from its online photographs suggested, the aircon didn't work and the service provided was done so with a grimace. We arrived very late - early hours of Saturday morning - because of a flight delay and as a result of our bus failing to show up at Ciampino Airport. We phoned ahead to make the hotel aware of this and was assured that everything was ok. Upon arrival however, they had allocated our suite to someone else and struggled to find a room to put us in. Eventually, we were given a room in the neighbouring Hotel Galles. The room was incredibly small and nothing like the suite we had paid for. We tried to complain but the 24 hr reception staff failed to see our frustration and were somewhat dismissive. The next day, we complained again and were moved to the Prince Galles. The "suite" was infact a small room with a tall ceiling that had been made split level (wooden platform with the bed on). This was infact a very good idea and worked well but the room decor was dated and in need of repair. Added to this, the bed head was appallingly dirty with dark yellowy stains on it, the bathroom was not the marble ensemble we had been promised and the shower area had no curtain, so water swam all over incredibly slippy tiles. We could have lived with these disappointments had the aircon worked at least, but alas no. In fairness, I have stayed in worse rooms but the hard fact is that the hotel is just not worth the price we paid. My key advice would be to book as far in advance as you can when going to Rome, we missed out on a lot of better hotels because we left our booking until the very last minute.
