“NOT suitable for solo travel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2010

There is no reception desk. You almost have to make an appointment to check in, something that is difficult to do when trying to avoid high roaming charges on your mobile phone. If you check in after 8pm, there is a surcharge for someone to basically wait for you to get there and give you the keys. You are given a key chain with several keys to get into the building and unit. If you lose your keys or cannot get into your room for any reason, there is no one on site to help you, something that is rather scary when traveling alone. Supposedly, there was free wifi, but the woman who gave me my keys left before I was able to gain access to it. I checked in around 4pm and she literally left 5 minutes after showing me to my room. The room itself was quite fabulous, but not worth the discomfort of not having staff on-site to help with any issues.

“I will be back :-)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2010

Service in top. Beautifull room and bathroom. Perfekt location. Some noise from trafic below, but absolutly quiet, when windows closed :-)
Breakfast was ok, but nothing to write home about.

“LOOK before you BOOK”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2010

there is a 10 day cancellation policy - if you need your travel plans to remain flexible, do no book this inn - the staff is not flexible
rooms are clean; the advertised free WiFi is not dependable and takes a long time to begin; the A/C is not consistent

“Under new ownership and not as good service; rooms nice though”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 May 2010

First, I think the previous reviewer is describing the incorrect B&B. The place is located on two floors of a normal residential building. Think of a brownstone in NYC. It is not the entire building--just two small parts within.

We have stayed here before. It used to be owned by the people who owned 58 Le Real de Luxe. It no longer is which is why I now give it an average review. The rooms are still very nice and new. No issues with water. The service is terrible though. It used to be great. We were first sent to a room that had not been cleaned. We asked if we could just put our luggage in the room and she refused. She then went to talk to the other worker after I got very upset who then gave us another room which was actually bigger and nicer. We did ask them to make us dinner reservations only to find out they didn't. Luckily the restaurant was able to accommodate us. Overall, the rooms are nice, the location is good, but the service stinks compared to what it used to be. I would not stay here again.

“Absolutely the worst place in Rome”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 May 2010

I chose this so called hotel after reading good reviews on tripadvisor. But travelers beware. This is not a hotel or a bed and breakfast. It is a total scam. Here are the problems:

1. This is an old house which is now converted to a lodge. There is no 24 hour reception and you have to fork out 20-40 Euros if you check in after 8.00 p.m. or before 11.00 am They will not give you a receipt for the extra money and it has to paid in cash only.

2. The place does not have hot water, so if you go when its cold, forget a nice hot shower.

3. They advertise a jacuzi in the bathroom. You will laugh when you see the tiny bathroom with a fancy shower which they call jacuzi.

4. There is no water pressure so you have to wait for a long time under the cold water to complete your bath or even wash your hands.

5. They advertise 24 hour air conditioning. The fixed ac in the room does not work and even after complaining to the reception, the ac was not fixed.

6. The free minibar consists of 2 bottles of water and 1 small bottle of terrible old juice. You can buy 1l of water for 0.20c in rome supermarkets so dont get tempted with this offer.

7. The room key is old and bulky, so plan to carry the heavy weight with you when you go shopping or sightseeing in rome.

8. There is no help from the staff if you need info on resturants or sightseeing.

9. The location is not the best. You have to walk quite a bit to reach the metro or main train station.

10. No one has ever heard of this place, so dont bother asking for directions.

11. There is no phone in the room.

12. The free internet comes and goes so if you are in the middle of an important conversation, you be sure to lose your internet connection.

YOU WILL ABSOLUTELY RUIN YOUR HOLIDAY IF YOU STAY HERE. BE VERY CAREFUL AND AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.
