This was our first trip to Italy and did not know what to expect in hotels. We were very pleased with the Empire Palace. Everything was clean and efficiently run. The breakfast buffet was good and gave plenty of choices: eggs, meats, breads, yogurt, juices and coffees.
It's not in the center of things but I ended up appreciating that. Housekeeping was efficient and thorough.
When we had questions about how to get to places, they were helpful. The doorman was funny and friendly. We wanted to take him with us.
If we were to go back to Rome, we would definitely stay there again.

Booked through SLH and got a nice upgrade to a Junior Suite. The room was a little dated and old looking but still very nice. Staff were very helpful providing maps and advice. A little bit away from the craziness of the tourist areas but not too far and a nice walk. About 20 mins walk from the Spanish steps. Food was very nice. Very strangely designed shower, flooded the bathroom every time.

Clean hotel, helpful friendly staff. Good breakfast.
Nice location - many sights within walkng distance.
Spent two nights there before cruise in October 2011. Booked through Celebrity cruise line.

My wife and I there 4 nights. Roughly $1,000, which seemed fair for what we had.
