“Close to Ciampino Airport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2007

We stayed at Hotel Anagnina at the beginning and the end of our trip to Italy. We chose the hotel based on its proximity to Ciampino airport for a late-evening arrival and an early morning departure.

Upon arrival at Ciampino, we took the bus to the Anagnina Metro station (1.20 Euro). From there we walked to the hotel, which I would not really recommend for everyone, as you have to cross the entrance and exit ramps of a major highway. There are several buses you can use instead.

Check-in was fairly quick and efficient. Carpets in the hallways could certainly use a good cleaning, but the room itself was spacious, adequately furnished and generally in good condition and clean.

The breakfast buffet was included in our rate and was above average. For dinner we walked to nearby “Juan de Marco”, a popular restaurant: not too cheap, but the food was excellent.

Wired Internet access is available for a moderate fee, and the McDonald’s next door has free WLAN access.

If you travel by car, parking is available for free in the underground garage of the shopping center (open from 8 am to 9:30 pm), or in front of the hotel after 7 pm. It takes about 10-20 minutes to get to the airport depending on traffic.

“Amazing Breakfast and First Class Accomodations”

This hotel is located at the very last stop on the Rome Metro Line A. That is about a 30-40 minute ride each way, so not convenient to Rome downtown; however, I saved money and felt lik I was in a 3.5-4 star hotel vs a 1-2 star for the same cost closer to the city. It was safe and easy to navigate once I had been there a day. My first night it was late and difficult to find. I followed directions form the internet and they were incorrect. I left a bus stop thinking it was right there and it wasnt. My first night in a foreign country and not speaking italian, it was scary. I was lucky and found an older couple whom offered a drive me. I normally would never do that but had no choice and they knew the hotel and reminded me of my parents so I accepted it. It was a few minutes away by car so I had been closer than I thought. The next two days I was able to navigate really easily to the hotel by bus to the train and walking..... Its a beatiful hotel and the breakfast was unbeatable. fresh fruit, breads, cheeses, eggs, and different type of fresh squeezed juices. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Not that great with English but enough to assist me when I had questions. The rooms are neat and clean and nicely furnished with a king size bed for a single size price. I was very happy with my choice and recommend the hotel if the location doesnt bother you. If I had to go back, I would stay closer, but its okay if you trying to save a little and get nice accommodations. Just make sure you know how to get there upon arrival.

“Great Hotel, Location OK”

My stay at the Anagnina Hotel was comfortable. I got a great deal at about 70 euros a night. The hotel is modern and my room was very spacious compared to other hotels I have stayed in while in Rome. My room was also clean and quiet. The hotel is connected to a shopping mall, complete with a McDonalds and a supermarket. (Tip: Stock up on water from the supermarket or be willing to pay 4 - 5 euros for water in the center of Rome). The major issue with this hotel is the distance from the city. It will take a bus ride to the Metro (5 minutes) and another 30 - 40 minutes on the Metro to get to Termini Station. It was not really a problem for me as I stopped at Punto Longo station every day to meet up with my traveling companions. The least expensive way to get to this hotel from FCO airport is by taking the Leonardo Express Train from FCO to Termini station (11 Euros and 30 minutes). Once at Termini, get a metro pass and take the A line towards Anagnina. Get off at Anagnina (last stop) and walk to the bus terminal. Take the 46 , 506 or 507 bus and get off when you see the hotel (first stop, look for the Ikea). Overall this hotel was a good deal and I would stay here again.

“nice hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2007

My husband and I stayed here for 4 days while travelling through Europe last summer. The hotel is far from the city center, so it is quiet there. However, you have to take a bus to the subway station and then ride the trains for a while before you reach any tourist attractions. The mall attached to the hotel isn't anything to brag about, and there really aren't any places nearby to eat. But the hotel was clean, and our room was spacious. It's a good value for the money as long as you don't mind being away from the city.

“Great value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2007

We stayed here at the end of May, 2007. We booked 2 rooms, a double and a triple. Overall, we liked the hotel, its location and most importantly, the pricing. We paid half of what we would need to pay for a similar hotel in central Rome.

We would have rated it above average if not for the air-condition in the triple room. It is not cold enough where the temperature gauge constantly showed that it is around 28 - 30 degrees C. We complained to the management but was told that it is because there are 3 of us in the room which I do not see it as the reason. The air-condition in the other double room was just perfect.

Anyway, apart from the air-condition, everything else was just great. The rooms are new, very clean and of a decent size. There is a free shuttle service that takes you to the subway station from the hotel which is less than a km away but it is not possible to walk as there is no walking path. Returning from the subway station is also very easy as there are buses always waiting right in front of the station that take you right back to the hotel.

The subway station is the last/first station of Metro Line A. We were initially worried whether the train will be almost deserted by the time it reaches the station. It was never like that as lots of locals from surrounding suburbs will get on and alight at this station. Another advantage of it being the last station is that there was always seats available on the train when we board it. The same train goes to St.Peter's, Vatican Museum and Trevi Fountain so it is convenient.

Breakfast is adequate with meat, fruits, dairy products and juices. The hotel is also situated in the same shopping complex with a supermarket and McDonalds. We got our supply of drinking water (real cheap) and pizzas from the supermarket. We also walked across to Ikea which is just behind the hotel for some cheap hot dogs.

Overall, a good value for money hotel. I will still stay there again if I am back in Rome but will make sure it has a good air-condition !
