I felt compelled to write this review when I saw how mediocre the overall rating of this hotel is on Trip Advisor.
First of all, the location is fantastic. We spent a jam-packed four days sight-seeing in Rome and aside from a day-trip to the Vatican, we walked everywhere and saw all the sights. The street it is on is not too busy but has exactly the kind of charm you'd expect from a tourist trip to Rome. I felt very safe.
Secondly, the hotel itself is beautifully decorated and very cosy. We recently splurged on a five-star hotel in Melbourne, Australia, and if someone told me they had hired the same interior decorator I could have believed them. Fantastic bathrooms facilities as well.
Now a comment on service; we didn't really speak much to the man at reception, but it was comforting to know that the hotel was manned 24/7 and because it isn't a big hotel, there was a nice level of familiarity. We received breakfast each morning delivered to our room, consisting of coffee and croissants, which was perfectly satisfying. Mind you, in the five star hotel I booked in Melbourne breakfast wasn't even included at four times the price. I really think this hotel is GREAT value in comparison.
The only complaint I have is that it is clear that the building had been renovated to make two levels, as a consequence you either get the bottom half of a window, or the top half. If you like rooms with big windows or a view, then you might be disappointed. That aside, it did make the stay nice and quiet and very easy to get a good nights sleep. Plus, there's air conditioning, so that should compensate.
Someone else had booked this hotel for me at the time. Now that I know how much they paid, I feel that this hotel goes above and beyond any expectations you would have in relation to the price. I don't think you can go wrong booking here.
