My wife and I are travelling round Europe and looking mainly for reasonable / budget accomodation. Given Rome's reputation, we decided to trade up a little to ensure we got a decent / safe hotel.
Room was very very small and bed was a regular double (i.e. tiny) , but it sufficed, just ,and had a safe and a/c (which also just managed to do the job). Staff were friendly, spoke good english and tried to help, but some did not really have a great grasp of what to do. A simple buffet breakfast was also included. Area location is good (supermarket, botuique shops, restaurants etc) and bus stop very nearby with regular buses to the main areas / Termini station (which took 10 - 20 mins)
Hotel claimed it had wi-fi, but it was not working and was expensive, otherwise there is a single internet terminal (also not working). Rooms and decor (apart from main lobby) felt they needed a facelift and although we had a smoking room (had requested non-smoking), we did not expect the cleaner to be smoking in it whilst she cleaned!
All in all it was a dissapointing experience, at £50 pn, this was an 'upgrade' on our normal budget and even thought it was Rome in August, the hotel is in a suburb and so we really expected a little more overall professionalism ...
The hotel semed to have a steady trade from Cosmos (?) tours, which may explain their lack have having to really try ...
