“Definitely not 4 star”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

The hotels rooms are very dated. I had one of their "best" rooms. I had an electrical panel with fuses exposed by the door, old tired furniture and a TV that was about a17" flat screen. Oh and the free wireless didn't work in their "best" room either. To top it off the room faced directly to a busy building site. Even noisy on Sunday.

“Nice Little Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

Not a bad stay, clean enough staff seem OK but didn't really have much inter action with them, most speak English. Breakfast was fine with a typical continental range, fresh coffee. I had dinner in the hotel and chose the set 4 course menu for €30 which I thought was value for money, the food was very good. Bed comfortable enough for me but may find the mattress too hard. Free WiFi but coverage intermittent. Would stay again if in the area.

“Hotel is just OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 April 2011

We've stayed in the hotel with my wife for 3 nights and hotel is just OK . It's just 5 minutes walking from the Metro EUR Fermi station but just near the station is an awful flea market ...Very very annoying.. The hotel itself is an old building with probably 15-20 year old furniture but it looks OK . We were allowed to check-in early at about 9:30 and we were very happy with it. Our room was large and clean with an 22'' LCD TV. Bathroom was clean as well. Probably the best thing is the free WI-FI connection. The breakfast was above average for Italy and the espresso is included. Staff was helpful, especially the night bartender.

“Good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2010

I've stayed in this hotel just for one night but I was happy with it. It's not in the city centre and you need to take a subway ( by the way one day travel card for subway cost 4e) but it only takes about 20 minutes to get there and than about 3-5 minutes to walk to the hotel from the subway station = really easy. The hotel is still facing a building site so it might be a bit noisy in the morning unless you have the room on the other site of the hotel I guess. My room was big, clean - the only thing I miss were the tea/coffe facilities in room (ok not each hotel have them) and it was easy to get the tea in the hotel bar - it cost 2.5E there. In the bathroom there were 2 small "kits" one with with "brush" to clean your shoes and the second one was with the hair band, few pads to remove your make up, small emery board and "sticks" to clean your ears - really cool. I arrived early - before check in time but i could left my luggage there and go sightseeing. And I was really, rally late for the breafkast but still was able to have it: there was bread, cakes, some ham, yellow cheese, white cheese, jams, joghurts - it was good enough for me.

“Not a real 4 star hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 April 2008

I didn't used to write reviews, but with this hotel I was really disappointed. I'm traveling quite a lot and have some comparison with other hotels and especially as I spent a night before also in Rome but in the center (Starhotel Metropole) I can even compare two 4 star hotels.
So... on the pictures hotel looks pretty well, unfortunately as soon as I arrived there spotted that not everything is really new, but that wasn't any problem.
The real problem was that I asked for non-smoking room but unfortunately there was not very nice smell in the room. It was not only smell of smoking but also kind of smell as you would have a multi-day party in the room and forgot to not spill a wine around. Or something like that - at least that wasn't nice smell.
I tried to get rid of it by opening the window and leaving it for the whole evening as went out for a dinner.
Another point is that I couldn't have a dinner in the hotel restaurant as they booked it for something else. I had two options, go back to the center (ca. 30mins by subway) or go by walking to nearest restaurant "Taverna dei Porta" or something like that, close to obelisk. That restaurant was really good and can be used for romantic evenings. They do serve very good food - I tried their so called Grilled mix, which was big plate of different grilled meat.

Returning to the hotel - they aspire to be 4 star hotel but as for me it was not more than 3 European stars. Room was quite small, even if it was double bed, there were just two beds connected which is not the same as double bed. I can easily say that it was the size of small London hotel's rooms.
Next morning I couldn't have breakfast in the main restaurant and was moved to smaller back room. This time it was because they decided to serve different food to normal guests than to organized group of probably Spanish tourists. Unfortunately "normal" guests meant worse food, just basic stuff like white cheese, joghurt, milk, sweet cake and nothing else besides coffee (good) and juice (it was more like an orange drink or maybe nectar than a real juice). I didn't see any other guests besides organized group.

Moreover I asked for a room where I can sleep till 9-10 without unnecessary noise and guess what... they put me on the side facing to huge development side, so starting from ca. 7:00 - 7:30 I couldn't sleep, whilst on other side looked much more calm.

I had very same experience with breakfast on the second morning.

At the end of check-out I was asked again to pay for second night, whilst it was already paid at booking time directly to the hotel. If I wouldn't state couple of time that I already paid for both nights they would happily charge me again. I better don't want to imaging if it could be sorted out with them and how much time it would take.

To summarize - don't go there even if you need to be in EUR district in the morning as I had to. It's better to stay in the center in well known hotel like Starhotel Metropol or any other as you can find probably even better deal than this [--] hotel.
